Not to defend the bunny, but since when do the fans pick the replacement? I disagree that Umile needs to go, but if we were in, say, Providence, or Lowell, and wanted to see the coach gone, would we need to have a "suitable replacement" in mind before starting the "Fire Army/Blaise" threads? And it's not like there's a pool of potential coaches, like in the pros (more so in sports like football or baseball). Some assistant whose name we don't know might be a terrific head coach in the making.Since I ran you through Drools Translator (copyright Google 2011), all I came out with was that you think Umile should go, I assume you have a suitable replacement in mind?
By very similar logic, Jerry York should have been fired after the 2001-2002 season. Defending National champs, and he helped them "not even make" the Garden, or the NCAA's!Mccloskey? Da guy who taked a purrenial national contendure, a team dat owned HE, et helped dem not even make d'HE playoff dis year?
Great to see Big Mac (aka - e.cat) after 40 years. He graduated from the same high school a year ahead of me. Helluva basketball player. Small world.
That had to be one of the most lop-sided 4-3 games I've seen in a while. UNH was firing on all cylinders and outshot UVM 39-28. If not for Madore's amazingly fast glove, the game would have been out of reach in the second period.
The seniors - Sislo, DeSimone, Thompson, Campanale, and Beck - left it all out on the ice in their last game at the Whittemore Center. Assuming Kessel moves on as well, his last home game was also hard-fought.
Last night, and especially tonight, the S-D-T line made a statement. They are one of the top-scoring lines in the East and they've come to the playoffs to play. If earning a trip to the Hockey East semifinals and NCAA regionals wasn't enough motivation for them, there is the added incentive of playing for their future. Recall that at the end of the playoffs last year, Bobby Butler received more than one offer to play professional hockey. His outstanding play throughout the playoffs and run at the Hobey Baker Award increased his value on the open market. An Amateur Tryout (ATO) contract is also on the horizon for the undrafted Mike Sislo and Paul Thompson. Similarly, Phil DeSimone will be looking to play for a Washington Capital affiliate (probably in the AHL) when his college season ends. They'll want to be playing at their peak during this period of maximum exposure to the professional scouts.
I think Stevie Moses has been making a statement over the last couple of months as well. He is setting himself up for a breakout scoring season in his senior year - much like Butler and Thompson did before him. The number of times he has generated shots on goal mostly through individual effort has been very impressive.
Unsung hero in the UVM series - Brett Kostolansky. He missed the Hockey East Playoffs his freshman year with a broken foot and when he returned for the NCAA Playoffs in Albany, he was a long way from 100%. Beginning on Friday night and continuing last night, he was skating and working his butt off. Whether it was controlling the puck in the defensive end or stepping up into the offensive flow, #15 came up big.
Two wins down. Another opportunity next Friday night at the TD Garden.
Exactement monsieur, oh waits, cept pour da leetle tiny detaile of York ad juste winned da NC et McCloskey ad winned...what ad e winned, I forget? Udder dan dat tho you rite.By very similar logic, Jerry York should have been fired after the 2001-2002 season. You were the one who brought up McCloskey's success (he's been the coach for all of the time UNH has been in WHEA, and brought the program back after Kay was fired).Exactement monsieur, oh waits, cept pour da leetle tiny detaile of York ad juste winned da NC et McCloskey ad winned...what ad e winned, I forget? Does anyone think tha UNH is in to the NCAAs after sweeping VT?

Moy doesn't include UNH in the bubble teams but doesn't say they've clinched. I asked Priceless on his Pairwise Predictor thread, and he said...
"I get them out with BU winning Hockey East, Ferris winning the CCHA, Dartmouth winning the ECAC and CC winning the WCHA. That puts them at 14, but the cut line would be 13 because the AHA Champ, Ferris (16) and CC (15) would take autobids.
UNH should root for Western, Harvard and Wisconsin tonight and take care of BU on Friday."
I know some might disagree with the placement, but good luck to Joe Marsh and the Larries today as they have the rubber game vs. the Eli's.....UNH grad '76'..Go get'm Snooks!

Scoreboard watching is fun, but at this point in the season, anybody you play is going to be a good team.
UNH will need to play a better 60 minute game Friday night if they want to play Saturday night. What I found most frustrating about the game was we saw UNH play well, and dominate at times, but the effort / play wasn't there for 60 minutes. That won't fly this coming weekend.
Radio guys last night were saying, if NU advances (leading to a BC v NU semi-final), League Offices will push for that game to be shown at 8pm, which would be rare - the #1 seed usually gets the early game.
It's ultimately up to BC though right? They get to choose which game they want, don't they? Would the league be able to force them to take the later game?
