UNH Wildcats 2010 off-season thread

Re: UNH Wildcats 2010 off-season thread

Luckily, not many teams have to travel very far in this league so the "bus legs" becomes less of an issue than it would out in other leagues where teams are more spread apart. I don't know if teams travel up a day early to Vermont/Maine (and vice versa for those 2 teams) to avoid the issue, but I would think they do at least some of the time.

UNH does and I also believe for UMass and sometimes a few others.

'Nuff said. Congrats on your regular season crown. Quite an achievement.

Womack I should have known you piece of ****

*chuckle*

are they doctors?

No. They play the cowbell and their only claim to fame is that they look like some piece of trailer park trash in the comics, e.g., the (note lower case) Comic Book Guy, self-proclaimed "Boy Genius of the Thread." They work minimum wage jobs and live for the bell to go home so that they may live in this heady atmosphere of USCHO on the interweb, where they can bully people with proper attitudes about success in hockey through their scary use of "Negative Feedback" and try to maintain their self-perceived position of superiority by denying that BC has a superior program, better coaching staff, and better players, all with BC's concommitant better results in the only tourney that matters: The Frozen Four.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2010 off-season thread

I don't think that anyone on this thread is denying BC's superiority this year. If some UNH fans may feel that a few certain BC posters have nothing better to with their time than to continuously "rub UNH's nose in it", who cares? Ignore them and move on.

I get a bigger chuckle out of the 50+ year olds that post on these boards who live vicariously through their collegiate hockey team and feel that certain players or a coach "owe" them something when they don't deliver positive results. Not mentioning any names...you know who you are. ;)

you're as much of a donkey as the BC donkeys that come in here. The only difference is, you're a cranky old donkey who takes pleasure in being miserable and complaining about things when they're not going well for UNH, yet you're RARELY in here when things are going well. You come in here and talk down from your rocking chair to the people who actually care about UNH, the team, and the atmosphere (or lack there of) in the arena. When has CBG proclaimed to be anything more than he is? And how the hell do you know what anyone on here does for a job? When has anyone denied BC was beter, geezer? Its pathetic that you waste time coming on here putting people down just because they actually care about watching the team whether or not they're doing well.
Have a nice summer, I look forward in you ranting about fish and turtlenecks in the future, old bag.

CBG and the hosers are better college hockey fans than you ever will be, and probably ever were, and they don't do it to be noticed, they do it because they enjoy it (you might have had some enjoyment in your life, maybe in the 30's? Big band era?) and its fun for them.

Wow, pretty much all lies about me. Well done!

And apparently, I am all of the hosers. There aren't any others. Either that, or we all play the cowbell, and exhibit the rest of the (false) traits in the above post.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2010 off-season thread

One of the guys in the Hosers is an Indian guy.

You know, from India. Do Indian people even qualify as trailer trash?

Seriously, what is your problem exactly? Why do you have to insult them and make up lies about them.

Do you even know one single person in this group, which you have so needlessly berated? Bill, you complete ***, nothing in your above post is true. Let's break it down.

Trailer trash: You know where they live? Show me a picture of one of their houses -- and somehow prove it's theirs. Their jobs You know where they work? That's kind of creepy. Bully people?Show me ONE POST where one of these people did this. Self-percieved position of superiority? Again, show it to me in writing. This thread used to be about getting the noise back up in the Whit -- whatever it took. In recent pages, a few BC fans have come in here and led the thread away. Some UNH posters have told them to cut the crap. I don't recall reading, "BC sucks, leave us alone." There is a difference between disrespecting the POSTER and disrepecting the SCHOOL, but I know reading comprehension wasn't a real big subject taught back in 1876 when you were in school. Not one single person who identifies themself as a "hoser" has ever bullied anybody on this thread; that comes from people like you.

I could have summed up my feelings about you, and your compeltely inflammatory posts, very simply:

Although sometimes antagonistic, I have boatloads more respect for Nick P than I'll ever have for you (and I don't even like him, just respect him :p ).

Bill, if you have nothing to add to the actual discussion on the thread, screw off.

Re: UNH Wildcats 2010 off-season thread

In other, much more relevant news . . .

Here's the breakdown of what happened in the thread, before the flame-war started.

1.) Atmosphere at the Whit sucks.
a.) How to get more students involved.
b.) How to get more STH's involved.
c.) How to get naked girls involved (just making sure you're awake).

2.) The much maligned "hosers" have said, in writing, they'd give up 'responsibilities' in the student section, if some other group would simply step up.
a.) Perhaps nobody has, because they're intimidated by said "hosers".
b.) Perhaps nobody has, because nobody knows what to do.
c.) Perhaps nobody has because there in fact are no naked girls.

Amidst much other useless driveling and flaming, some very valid points were made. As this thread continued to spiral downward, most of the posters involved in the "Atmosphere at the Whit" discussion simply logged off, with a great big :rolleyes:

Now, we're faced with two challenges; reclaiming the thread towards something useful, and then figuring out how to fix the problem with the lack of atmosphere.

Problem One: Ignore. Let them post / flame all they want, just don't respond.
Problem Two: Maybe I should take the hint and just let the topic die, but I strongly disagree with Onion Man's (and a few others) opinion that home crowds don't affect play on the ice. Having spoken to players like Ty Conklin, Steve Saviano, Mike Ayers, and right up to as recently as Bobby Butler, I'd argue that it does. Not a TON, but it does matter.

The only question that remains is what are we going to do about it?

+ 1 Great post. Tellling it like it is!

To recap ...

To recap ...

I keep waiting to see if he'll chime in here . . .

Why? :confused: I already have, haven't I?

* Put a better product on the ice, preferably with some new blood on the coaching staff, or at least an improved focus with their recruiting strategy;

* On-ice results will improve, games will be more fun/enjoyable, and fans of ALL categories will return and be re-energized;

* Without the above ... even if the hosers (Hosers?) could arrange for naked co-ed broomball between periods :eek: I'm not sure it would do anything to improve the current atmosphere at The Whitt; :(

* Home ice atmosphere can give the home team a little extra "jump", and *might* get you a borderline officiating call once in awhile (although I think most experienced HE refs seem to consciously guard against that);

* Said atmosphere will NOT intimidate any D1 opponent worth their salt, but might give the Oyster River Bobcats a HUGE edge when facing the Hedding Christian Academy JV Squirts "B" team (with all due respect to the vaunted HCA program ;) );

* Some BC alums who post at USCHO are still insufferably arrogant, but I'm convinced (in their defense) that it's something in the water at the Chestnut Hill Reservoir. Or maybe the water closet at Mary Ann's. :eek: Probably both; :D :p So cut them some slack - they truly can't help themselves;

* Les posts du Jacques Poriveau ees fantastique et tres comique - maek moi snork d'airy prodoocts oot mon noz!! :) :)

Re: UNH Wildcats 2010 off-season thread

From an article in today's Union Leader, a little perspective on home rink attendance in the state of NH: The Manchester Monarchs got a Bud Holloway goal 2:00 into overtime to earn a 2-1 win over Portland in Game 3 of their AHL Atlantic Division semifinal series in front of 2,130 fans at Verizon Wireless Arena last night.
