Unh vs lowell in manchester saturday march 30 , is four wins to much to ask for .

Re: Unh vs lowell in manchester saturday march 30 , is four wins to much to ask for .

Okay, not too sure which team is the "home" team today, since UNH is host, but UML is top seed. Clarifications?

And can we just get our refs for this one? Yesterday's were just meh.

UML is the home team as the top seed. I'd love to see Hockey East refs, which both teams are familiar with, do this game, but it will be one of the same groups from yesterday.

This brings me back to when U of L played what ever M state that was in their home rink. in this situation. Finally lost in triple OT after a penalty for too many men and Roli was finally not invincible

I remember that. It was Michigan State's rink, they were hosting, but since Lowell was the higher seed, even got to use their locker room or something like that. Heard Michigan State wasn't too happy about it.

Re: Unh vs lowell in manchester saturday march 30 , is four wins to much to ask for .

Just a feeling and looking at results the last couple week it makes no sense, Lowell gets a case of the nerves and UHN skates their way to Pittsburgh in a close game. What I'd like to see is a close game and Derek Arnold scoring the game winner. Rubbing salt in Timmays ineptness never grows old :D
Yeah, I don't think so -- UML is on a mission -- win 1 more game, repeat twice. I doubt UNH will stop them tonight. As much as I'd like to see UNH back in the FF, in my heart of hearts, UML is the HE team with the best shot to win it all, including BC. To repeat what another poster remarked, I'd love to see UML (or UNH) beat BC for the NC.

It's an all-America East battle tonight.

If we draw the right set we can use the upper net to play the puck off of. UNH will never be prepared for that!

Re: Unh vs lowell in manchester saturday march 30 , is four wins to much to ask for .

Of course, I would be delighted if this team that has provided us very few expectations since December could somehow prevail tonight for a return to the Frozen Four for the first time in 10 years. But, I also will be content with their second win over the goon team from Denver this season, and their first in five post-season tries in Manch last night. Umile can be proud of himself and this team if he chooses to follow Parker into retirement now.

Yes, the old off the protective netting play! CCHA must allow that as that's where the refs in our game were from. Also phantom roughing calls, made up tripping/penalty shot calls, missed offsides, missed icing, they have it all in the CCHA. Let's hope none of their refs end up with HE next year when the CCHA is no more, makes our guys look like the best.

UNH wears blue tonight so Wildcat fans shoul as well...

Btw, whomever talked about playing "kill hockey" with Tim Burke, I talked with him yesterday and he remembered those days and the hockey fondly...he's out at the Grand Rapids Regional......

Re: Unh vs lowell in manchester saturday march 30 , is four wins to much to ask for .

Why do I keep hearing people say this was UNH's first win in 5 postseason tries in Manchester?

UNH is the only team in the country to win its first round matchup each of the last 4 times they've made the tournament. Although they have they have frustratingly been unable to make the Frozen Four, the phrase 'one-and-done' is factually incorrect.

2009, beat UND IN MANCHESTER. Lost a thriller to BU.
2010, beat Cornell in Albany. Forgot to play RIT.
2011, beat Miami (OH) IN MANCHESTER. Forgot to play ND.
2012...
2013, beat Denver IN MANCHESTER.

So, they can win in Manchester. If we lose tonight, how can you call it a choke? Playing the hottest team in the country. And making it to the "elite 8". I'm saying this is good enough--I want them to return to the Frozen Four--but stop saying one-and-done.

Re: Unh vs lowell in manchester saturday march 30 , is four wins to much to ask for .

I truly feel bad for UNH having to deal with those injuries and will be pretty surprised if either guy plays tonight. BC had some concussion issues this year too, only our guys were still able to skate more shifts after getting their bells rung, but after the games it was determined they were concussed and thus sat the next weekend. If your guys were immediately knocked from the game due to a head injury, they were almost certainly concussed, in which case there is no way they play, not even in the NCAA's. As for DU, it's too bad some teams feel the need to play like this and I just can't see how both hits were just accidents. The goonery at the end of the game just further showcased their poor sportsmanship.

^ Seriously, stop spamming your **** in every thread son.
I've already blocked him, although USCHO.com doesn't make it very convenient to add to the ignore list. MODERATOR - is that something that can change?
Last night they looked like they won a regular season game. All Business. I am not worried about the nerves on UML's part. I am worried about UNH making a recovery from their end of the season slide.
I agree with this sentiment.

Can't say I'd heard that. Who's saying it? Media? Posters here? Other fans?

Nothing to do with the "host." UNH was home because they were seeded higher than Denver (7 vs 9). Tonight Lowell is home (#3 seed).

Re: Unh vs lowell in manchester saturday march 30 , is four wins to much to ask for .

My FIL, who doesn't watch much hockey just commented that the announcers last night sounded like they usually commentate baseball. He thought they were awful! Made me giggle and think of all the derogatory stuff posted on here about them

Actually Lowell has too:

1994 - beat Michigan State 4-3 (lost to Minnesota 2-1 in 2OT)
1996 - beat Michigan State 6-2 (lost to Colorado College 5-3)
2012 - beat Miami 4-3 in OT (lost to Union 4-2)
2013 - beat Wisconsin 6-1

It's interesting how perspective changes things. When BU went out to Denver in January (first game back after break), it was the game where Noonan went nuts and Escobedo was hitting everyone after the whistle. I ripped them up and down for their "undisciplined" behavior. After watching last night, now I understand why. I didn't realize what a bunch of thugs Denver was. They completely mauled BU both physically and hockey-wise and I'm sure a lot of the BU players "losing their cool" was due to the baiting from Denver...

Two and done? :D Just teasing...I couldn't resist!
