Unh @ scsu

Re: Unh @ scsu

I agree it feels a lot like last year's bad start, but it is still too early to get too worked up over being 1 - 3. I've seen too many teams over the years crawl out of Pairwise oblivion in February and back into the top 12 or 13 teams (or even higher) and make the NCAA tournament.

I don't think St. Cloud needs a sweep this weekend; I just expect that they will.
But beating non-conference teams helps big time in the Pairwise which makes this a pretty important series for both teams even if it is early in the season, I'd say.

Yep and going 1-2 the first three non conference games didn't help. After this weekend they have two non-conference games left against Western michigan.

Re: Unh @ scsu

Congrats, Huskies. Good win for your team tonight against us. Bad news: unless we improve dramatically, it won't be of much use for you in the PWR.

Perhaps we'll return the favor tomorrow?

Re: Unh @ scsu

Mike Lee might get a lot of heat around here, but that poor DiGiorno kid from UNH is trrbl. Yuck. And I realize several of Lee's GA were off deflections, but you can't be giving up 3 goal leads in the 3rd period. We were lucky that UNH out-sieved us tonight.

And that Rabey kid has a cannon!

Re: Unh @ scsu

That was an exciting and somewhat tense show tonight! UNH kept coming back like a bad nightmare.

And speaking of nightmare, the broadcast produced by Husky Productions was of a questionable quality tonight. It certainly looked like their first broadcast of the season.

However it was great to see the game on local TV on Comcast Channel 23 through Charter in the western suburbs. Jim Rich did an acceptable job as play-by-play announcer. But Tom Saterdalen needs to slurp down a couple more coffees or something before the start of the game since he seemed half awake and referred to high school hockey too many times. He seemed to think he was watching a Bloomington Jefferson game.

Your goalie was brutal. his soft goals changed the whole game and cost your squad. He was the reason you guys lost. You guys have some talented forwards that can really fly.

Question, is the pronunciation of "SorkIN" as "SorkUM" a Minnesota accent thing? Was bugging me all day as well as Knodel being pronounced as "Coonoodle" (it's "Kah-No-Del"). The first intermission report was hilarious and was YouTube gold if someone uploads a video of it. Also heard the funniest DiGirolamo pronunciation yet (Didorono) but with a last name like that it's expected.

Not sure that beating UNH is going to help the Huskies much this season.

That's about the only good thing that can be said about UNH at this point.

You mean the goalie that USCHO said was the best goalie in the country a few weeks ago?
Someone was wrong about something? Heavens no!

It's a bunch of college kids producing the broadcast, so you mostly get a third-rate airing of a game where pronunciation guides probably haven't been distributed and the cameras are all over the place when the director cuts from one angle to the next. It's not like you have a finely tuned production crew who knows how to actually use their equipment or when to make the jump from wide angle to narrow angle. You have to know what to expect going into these things and live with them being ever so low.

Back to you, guys!
