UNH Offseason Contract Edition.

Ironically, my son-in-law's name is Matt Davis. He and our daughter also expecting our second grandchild too.

Throw in a monumental OT road win for DRW, and it's been an epic 48 hours at the WIS Estate.

NOT so excited about WWIII breaking out on the other side of the world, but I'll deal with that tomorrah ...

Matt Davis is also chairperson of the UNH Earth Sciences Department; small world.

I rooted for Michigan and DU in this FF, as I did for DU and Adam Burkhoel at the Garden in 2004 and for NICC at the FF at the Pepsi Center in 2008. No allegiance here to those three HEA teams just because UNH is also in the HEA.

Good news on both Jenson and Reid coming back. Should contribute to continued growth and another decent year. However, I am really concerned about the following year with 5 of next years starting 6 d-men graduating. 3 can’t stay and the other 2 won’t. That leaves no room for any of the younger or new d-men room to develop. 25/26 will have 1 experienced retuning defense men!

Good point about UNH blue line in 2025/26, ATW. Maybe the portal will still be a thing after Covid years expire, which could help?

Hellsten will be gone as well, correct?

One would think so. Either a great offer or at 25 in February-he may feel the need to move on. However he appears to have two more years of eligibility left if he chose to use them.

My guess is that Darius meant the 2025/26 season for Hellsten. But we should still have da Whale for that season.

They have a whole year to go out and address that situation. They've not had as saleable a program as right now for a long, long time. Add the portal to the mix, and there's no reason that they shouldn't be able to address this looming shortcoming comfortably. Or ... will they?!?

...and UNH does have players coming next season in checking CHC's blog. Sure agree when you look at it seems like a lot (it is) but I feel they'll fill in the cracks..

It's going to be interesting to see how da Whale (lol Snively) will do and looking ahead to Grout. Going to pay attention there as well..

Meanwhile...I am expecting good things for right now with (hopefully) no more portal hits. The Jensen/Ried news is very good.

To further elaborate on SNHU's continued willingness to be open to all kinds of statewide ventures ... looks like the New England Revolution's reserve side will be playing 8 of their 14 home games this season to SNHU's on-campus stadium in Hooksett, as kind of a trial run for what can become a more permanent arrangement for both the Revs and SNHU. The Revs II squad is currently competing in the 3rd tier of US pro soccer:

In a world where more coaches are playing chess in regards to the portal, let's hope that MS7 and crew aren't playing Candy Land. The question that I have is if the hockey program has full autonomy to bring in certain players or do all potential moves need to be cleared by the administration.

From their website, it appears that all transfer students to UNH must be in good standing at their last institution (i.e., no expulsions, etc), and typically have a 2.8 GPA (3.0 for Liberal Arts).

Sardarian to Northern Michigan, so he'll still be a Wildcat.

Thinking the winters in the upper peninsula might remind him of St. Petersburg.

For such a "highly regarded" prospect, his choice of school is uninspiring. An indictment on his game and pro future or just an opportunity to be a stud on a lesser team?

...and TvR plays in his 600th game last night in a W over the Bruins. Great career with a Cup to boot.

Here's to ya Trevor!

Sorry for being away a lot recently, folks ... just coming to terms with some fantastic hockey drama surrounding the last few games of the DRW season, which I'll say up front were not for the faint of heart. Three straight come-from-behind wins in must-win situations, including a GTG goal tonight with 3.3 seconds left in Montreal, 6 points in 6 games ... and ultimately losing a tiebreaker with the Capitals, who were gifted a rare ENG GWG tonight when the idiot coaching the Flyers pulled his goalie - thinking he still needed a regulation win to stay alive, even after DRW getting a point to force their game into OT had eliminated his team - basically gifting a playoff slot to the Capitals. I've had better in-game intel at local and regional youth soccer tourneys on concurrent games scenarios on the final stage of group play, which is directly comparable, with about one-thousandth of the tech budget. Yes I am angry, and yes, I've had my fair share plus of adult beverages, but love my DRW's and eff the Caps and especially hating big-time on #tortorellapos
