UNH Offseason Contract Edition.

Curious as to where one goes to major in metallurgic eng. I took a metallography class in my time at UMaine, one of my favorite classes. Thought about pursuing it but didn’t. Long time ago now. Must be a smart young lady.

There are only a handful of programs that offer metallurgical engineering as a standalone program, the top of two of which are the Colorado School of Mines and South Dakota School of Mines. Receiving Presidential Scholarships at both, she ultimately chose SD. SD recruited her hard and had her out last summer working in its NASA Lab on a project for the Mars Mission.

She has a furnace that she melts scrap metal in, creates her own alloys and sand casts in our garage. For a 17 yr old kid, she is far more ambitious than I ever was at her age.

No absence of sneaky brags from TGC

As a Dad, I would be remiss in my parenthood if I didn't seize the opportunity ;) LOL, Never would have brought it up if a specific question wasn't asked.

Brag away. You should be proud, she has clearly worked hard. Congratulations on raising a kid that is driven.

Muszelik is portaling...

Perhaps the least surprising news of the bunch, and I'm hoping this means Hellsten has confirmed he is returning.

If MS7 & Crew are smart and diligent during this portal with incomings, what a great opportunity to re-shape next year's roster more favorably than the one they finished the season with. Two back-up goalies, two spare part players, and Sardarian who spent most of his time as a bottom six forward the last two seasons - cleared out, by their own choice. None of the top players have left (so far). Couldn't have asked for better, at least via the out door. Now it will be imperative to capitalize on who's going to be coming into the program ...

Should we expect to see a Key Auto Group patch on the uniforms next season?

Seems to be a trend nowadays. Reminds me of life in "DRW World" lately, where my beloved Wings were on course for a 100 point season less than a month ago, slapped on a small patch from a local waste disposal company for a few more sponsorship sheckles, and promptly went on a 7 game winless streak, leaving them now in a 3 way battle for the last two Eastern Conference playoff slots. To say the least, Hockeytown is very displeased with the extended Ilitch Family for "desecrating the greatest sweater in NHL history", with many folks swearing off Little Caesar's in favor of Domino's or (gasp) some quality local-yokel pie stores. To say the overreaction has been epic would be an understatement.

Let's just say, neither DRW nor UNH proved to be anything more than middle-of-the-road this season, but it sure does beat the "bottom of the barrel" fare served up way too often at both venues in recent years ...

My wife and her family had season tickets to the Wings from the late 70-00s, and when Mrs. Grouch saw the Waste Management patches introduced while the team was on a heater, she lost her F$%^#@ mind.

Someone beat you to that punch too lol. All the speed and agility of Garfield this morning, eh Grouchy? ;-)

Have been stuck on back to back conference calls to China and Germany since 03:30am. I'm getting bored and punchy since my only responsibility for these meetings is provide "executive presence".

So now UNH needs a goalie...interesting prospects in the portal with more to come. At first glance...who would be a favorite? I picked the UCONN keeper but he's going to Penn...

Need to look at the current list and weed out the DNC's...
And while not official hoping Muszelik 's leaving signals Hellsten is indeed staying.

Best wishes Tyler...hope you find a place that suits you..

Reshaping is great. If there is a plan.

In my business we talk about Strategy and Execution.
You got both = World Class
No Strategy and Executing = Running on Treadmill
Strategy and No Execution = Wishful Thinking
You got neither = Deep $h!t.

I still worry we got neither.

There is a bit of talent now, and there are a few bright spots on the horizon, but it doesn't really look like a true wave is on it's way, or the big holes are getting filled. So at best "running on a treadmill" as somebody is executing on some forward talent into the future, maybe not enough TBD. However the glaring holes in net and on D speak to limited Strategy at best.

Agree with the overall sentiment that the exiting players are not unexpected and up to this point not too damaging. But, let's hope no more defect. So what's the last date available for teleport out of UNH?
