Re: UNH Off Season Thread 2011
Neither one wants to be a head coach. Lassonde has had more attractive offers than Providence in the past and turned them down so, despite being a PC alumnus, I don't see him leaving. From what I can see, he is comfortable in his own skin in Durham. He's a Seacoast native, has his group of friends (hockey and non-hockey), and truly likes what he is doing. Can't see him moving. As for Borek, really can't confirm this, but I have to guess his experience at Lake State soured him on the idea of ever being a head coach again.
Not sure what PC would do, but not my problem. Terrible program, actually terrible athletic department, at a small Catholic school populated by a student body that really doesn't care. Providence hasn't been relevant for almost 10 years. Geez, sounds like Merrimack, so there might be hope.
I agree I would hate to see Lassonde go, think he has been under the radar for years in the teams success and can’t argue with the way he has developed goalies. He would be a huge lost. Of the 2 think Borek is the more replaceable one. He has done a good job in find the young guys and helping them develop over there years at UNH. But like you said this could be a good way to get a young guy in who could be the next head guy and maybe has some strong ties to the USHL or National Program. Would be interesting to see who they would go after, a former UNH guy and if so who?
