UNH Men’s Hockey 22-23: the start of something new, or more of the same?

Thanks for your thoughts and observations Ref. Must have been fun! Yes Fessy looked okay but he was channeling Danny T. there a couple of times. Hey if it works. Would add to the list submitted by Dan. Want to see Kristaps get some ice and wonder what is up with Will M?
Other than the win, I loved the way MS rolled all four lines. It looked like a pretty even distribution. I believe that this approach will serve them well to both develop and to get everyone involved. Great gritty comeback and win. Go Cats!

UNH hockey had the goals on their social media but that's all I saw...? Haven't checked the ECAC page? College hockey news app had none either..

Wildcats Win 4-3 OT Thriller at #17 Clarkson, in Season Opener - University of New Hampshire Athletics (unhwildcats.com)

Not sure if this is helpful or different to the social media feed, 'Ref? FWIW two Clarkson giveaways in their own zone, one very nice PP goal, and the GWG looks like it probably should have been saved by the Knights' goalie. Doesn't matter, the team did come back from two 2-goal deficits to win at the end of OT, so kudos to the boys (and MS7) for a nice start to the season.

Huard opens the scoring for UNH about midway into the first period.

EDIT: Winters credited with the goal (deflection?) assisted by Huard.

The Larries even it up on a PPG with less than a minute to play in the first period.

UNH 1 SLU 1 after one period. Even later Leclerc penalty so UNH on the PK when we return ...

UNH goes up 3-1 early in the 3rd period, Devlin nets his second of the season.

EDIT: Carfagna nets shortly after during a delayed SLU penalty, so it's now 4-1.

Starting to get that familiar "Champions of October" vibe, welcome back 'Cats!! ;-)

I’ll take champions of anything at this point!

It'll be interesting to get some HR feedback on how well Muselik played in his D-1 debut.

Sounded very much like SLU was not terribly competitive in tonight's game ...

Alittle bird told me the.last time UNH swept a North Country weekend MS7 was a Senior in 1999..

So what do I think about Ty Muszelik? Granted he didn't have the barrage that Fess had last night but I think he played a very solid game. We liked his positioning and felt he had more support tonight than last night
Two different styles both seem to get the job done. Well guess we will see who leads em out next week.

Disappointed in the amount of penalties but was pleasantly surprised at the aggressive work on the PK...I like the tempo of this team. Going to have to continue to gel as players get sorted out.

Proud of ya 'Cats! We've enjoyed our experience up here beautiful countryside. As per the Champions of Oct remember we started out that way last season...let's see how far it takes us going forward!

Huh. Wow.

I don't think any of us ever believed that UNH would be 2-0 out of the chute averaging 4.0 goals per game, with so many newcomers on the team.

It's early....but one has to ponder that maybe.....just maybe.....MS7 may finally have something to build upon.

Again, it's early....let's see where they are at the end of the month.

One pleasant surprise - former Babson stud Ryan Black with 3 assists on the weekend. Waddya think Chuck??? :-)

He had a lot of help tonight in keeping the game manageable and mostly in front of him with rebounds cleared. What I will say is that with his positioning and vision he didn’t make the game difficult for himself which is very good on a guy making his first start. Add to that that the only shot that beat him was an unfortunate deflection off his defender and you can’t complain. I would guess on Fess against BC and Tyler on Tuesday in a likely very emotional home opener for Merrimack after losing Josh Ciocco.
