UNH @ Lowell 11/8

Re: UNH @ Lowell 11/8

That was one of Barry's many gems today. At one point, he said that if JVR had just stayed for his second year, UNH would have more offensive firepower.

Just imagine if ESPNU aired the first period...what more we could have learned!

And if they just had a Brian Yandle quality defenseman.....

melrose's ignorance notwithstanding, insane quote of the day still goes to dick umile, who said of foster: "he's confident right now"

yup you can tell

Re: UNH @ Lowell 11/8

Great Lowell PP and trainwreck defense by UNH in the third was the recipe for that game. My prediction is that we might see Matt DiGarolamo in net at UMass next weekend, as Foster hasn't exactly been solid the last 2 starts.

If you're right I hope you enjoy your 7-2 win. The words train wreck and lacking confidence are totally apropos in describing DeSievolamo.

Re: UNH @ Lowell 11/8

any reason why you guys didn't go out and pick up another goalie?
None available maybe? Maybe thinking Foster and his wingman would not crash and burn?

Could be as simple as no scholarships available.

yeah, but you'd think they could entice another kid to campus and hope he isn't nearly as useless at the UNHers make DiGralamo out to be

Re: UNH @ Lowell 11/8

Cripes, Matvick and Melrose are ridiculous. They kept saying how big of a win this would be for their program. Yea, here you have that little thing up at the top that shows UML as the 8th ranked team and they have no number next to UNH, and they have an awful record, but, this is a program builder for UML.

WHAT?!!?!?!?

Re: UNH @ Lowell 11/8

Sitting in good ol' section X tonight and saw something pretty funny. There were a boatload of older UNH fans (did they have a senior citizens bus come down or what)and then some younger guys down a few rows from us. The young guys stand up to yell the traditional (and unoriginal) "you Suck!" The little old lady (who had THE MOST OBNOXIOUS PERFUME ON-EVAH!!!111!!!- so strong I wanted to hold my breath 4 rows back!) 1 row down from them lights them up about not wanting to listen to that language. Credit to the young guys, they were respectful and just did the clap thing. In the third some old guy in the top row lets loose at Benedetto laced with you suck and more. Was waiting to see what she would have to say to him. Sadly, nothing.:D

Re: UNH @ Lowell 11/8

Both teams played horrible hockey. It was like watching the keystone cops.

Re: UNH @ Lowell 11/8

3 more PP goals give up by UNH today for a total of 7 on the weekend. That is nothing short of horrendous. The PP was brutal again this weekend too, and I'm sorry but Foster just is not getting it done. Another 6 goals today is just too many.

Just back from celebrating my 60th at the Lowell Beer Works after the game, which would have been nicer with a full 60 minutes of effort by the Cats. I really did not think that Foster played all that badly, except for not seeing Lowell's fifth goal. He really had no chance on the three PP or the other two goals, at least from my vantage point eight rows up in Section X. I thought that the Cats totally outplayed the River Hawks for the first 30 minutes or so, but then became completely unravelled after Falite's goal tied the score 2-2 (shot differential at that point was UNH 21-11, I think; 16-7 UNH shot advantage after first period).

UNH has no defense at all, and even Kessel was mediocre against Lowell, I thought. Moreover, for a team that has the worst PK in Div 1, they should stop taking stupid penalties away from the puck. After the second Lowell PP goal, UNH was 2 for 8 in the PK on the weekend (25% PK ain't going to cut it at any level of hockey). If the Cats do not get their PK working, they had better stay out of the box in Amherst next weekend.

Re: UNH @ Lowell 11/8

DVR'ing this game was the greatest decision I've ever made, if only for Umile's tantrum.
