UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

They often come from the same posters year over year and drip with the same hyperbole and emotion, always directed at the team's better or best players and usually because said player(s) haven't lifted the team to ultimate success - in spite of (often) outstanding numbers and (often recently) a lack of surrounding talent.
Bingo.

Michigan State was #2 in PWR week in and week out all last season and therefore #2 in USCHO poll to begin this season. Our win on Thursday night could prove to be the all Div 1 upset of the season.

OOC wins are what kept us in the PWR hunt to near the end of the past two seasons. The Cats need to win more games against other average HEA teams for any chance at revisiting the Garden or NCAA’s at the end of the season. Splits or worse against teams like UVM, Mac, NU, PC, Yukon, UMass-Bazin, and UMass-Flagship will not cut it.

Not a chance, Larry. Bobo was the GOAT of UNH posters back in the glory days of the battles with Bandwagon Nation and the Orono Little League. He is also the charter member of the WIS Hall of Fame, joined only by NickUNH (yours truly is only WIS Self-Appointed President for Life and museum/HOF wing curator).

:ROFLMAO: 🏆 :ROFLMAO:

To paraphrase a popular quote from late in the last century, which applies to your libelous insinuation of the GOAT's present-day status, let me just say this ... I served with Bobo on these boards, I know who Bobo is, and Bobo is still a friend of mine. potty isn't worthy to lace Bobo's skates ...
Bozo was a pain in the arse. Blinky-the-wonder-chimp or whatever his moniker was gave him a run for his money. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

Let me know when we start consistently scoring more even strength than PP goals.

Mr. Conmy with seven SOG last night, two teammates with four. From the box score his Thursday game looks okay too.

Re: Conmy not hanging with his teammates - he was not on the HEA All Academic team as a Freshman, was as a Sophomore. Maybe he was studying

I've followed this board closely for many years, just never put in the effort to post. But watching potluck the last few months make baseless claims is past the point of insanity. We have briefly met at the games before. I will reintroduce myself at the first game.

BTW potluck, love or hate Conmy as a player I don't really care, but he was a bad teammate. He had a bad attitude and did not hang out with the rest of team outside of the rink, hence why he was not well liked. I'm sure you will accuse of me lying like you do everyone else who won't name their sources. Isn't the point of this board to share insight on the team that’s not necessarily public knowledge?
nobody that truly loves UNH hockey would personally attack the AMATEUR hockey players in the program on public message boards. Rest assured none of the players or coaches inside the UNH program have any respect for gutter sniping slime balls like Norbert (Meathead) and Buford (Chuck) and JB (Elwood). Attacking the kids in the program on message boards is gutless. Only people with zero accomplishments in their own lives do it. Those losers are not friends of UNH hockey.

Oh, and Emily, with the garbage you posted about Conmy here, rest assured nobody inside UNH hockey views you as a supporter. Truth.

Safe to say, most of us are happy to be leaving Linsing 1-1 this weekend! Go ‘Cats!!
Any UNH fan who thinks the start of the season has been in any way disappointing needs to do a quick rethink.

Whether this lasts, or turns out to be another false dawn, remains to be seen. Anyone who's been on here for any significant amount of time (year plus) has seen me trot out the "Lucy holding the football for Charlie Brown" meme, and yes, I'm once again the doofus running up to kick the ball, filled with trust and optimism lol ...

You might have seen over 50 BC games since your a BC fan but your dislike for UNH Hockey is quite apparent. I was on these boards in the early 2000'S and from the hillbilly's quotes to the defending of Conmy [who is a very skilled player] I'd say your a pinhead through and through.

Yeah..getting terribly outshot (SOG's anyone) ...little forechecking...Sparty wasnt going to get embarrassed tonight!

Still...I think we've got some decent stuff that will only get better; there's alot to build on with the influx of the CHL guys..Chauvette (my auto correct already has him in the mix ).

Dan what say you? (And others who watched/ were at the game)

I was unable to watch or follow last night. I knew MSU would push back - a split was entirely predictable. Seeing UNH so limited in scoring, shots and chances was disappointing.

Another good outing for Chauvette is promising. I hope they’re planning to give Whale at least spot starts, if not more, because a big downfall last season was running the number one into the ice…

I did read they blocked as many, or more, shots last night. That’s an encouraging early season development that could pay off in big games the rest of the way. That hasn’t always been a hallmark at UNH.

It's funny because you don't even know me or my connection to the team. Go ask the players and I can guarantee they will say I am a big supporter of UNH hockey...

Not sure what happened from Thursday night to last. Think there is a lot of talent in this group and there's a decent chance of them having a good year. Need to bounce back and get an early Hockey East win at Merrimack next Saturday.

By taking personal swipes at players on public message boards, you are precisely whst players and coaches hate most. Thats literally from the mouths of the unh coaches.

You don’t think recruits read the moronic messages from knuckleheads like Meathead, Elwood and Buford? Recruits and their parents, certainly do. And the coaches get asked about it.

Em, if I could make a suggestion, I'd say do not engage with the likes of potty. There is no principle in his act, he'll libel you with his made-up standards, and as you're beginning to experience directly now, he will disparage you if you don't play along. When you get your name, wear it as a badge of honor.

Whatever you decide to do ... don't go trying to "mend" this with potty on DM/IM/etc. You'll only end up added to his to-be-blackmailed list, like others.

Knowing 'Ref vouches for you, you are among friends here, so go ahead and be a fan however you please. Don't let beta boy ruin your experience.

... from your lips to God's ear, the rate of your fabrications on here is accelerating at warp speed. But while we're on the subject, I've got an idea.

What are your standards for proper discussion on USCHO (a college hockey message board), more specifically on a UNH focused thread(s)?

Be VERY specific, and while you're at it, please provide First Amendment justifications for each limitation of allowable topics you propose, OK? Go ...

If that's the standard for proper allowable discussion, maybe said recruits can jump on board with a school with far less ongoing USCHO board commentary?

Also, the visual of Recruit's Mom Karen warning her darling little Junior Jeteye to avoid UNH because of message board meanies is too precious for words.

"You know, son, as wonderful a coach as Mr. Souza is, your father and I cannot tolerate the UNH message board commentary, so you can't go to UNH"

If a kid ain't coming/staying due to a program's message board content, I don't think he's cut out for the big time. Maybe archery is more his sport??

As an aside ... potty, you started out blaming outdated facilities for MS7's less-than-impressive record to date ... then it was going to be down to UNH opting out of the NIL scenario (which they didn't) ... and now MS7's failures are laid at the doorstep of player family gossip, and fan's willingness to share on USCHO?

At what point are we allowed to entertain the growing possibility probability that MS7 just hasn't been a very good D-1 coach a decade into his tenure???

Another good outing for Chauvette is promising. I hope they’re planning to give Whale at least spot starts, if not more, because a big downfall last season was running the number one into the ice…
That all depends on whether MS7 learns from last year's example, where the DiMatteo (sp?) kid turned out to be pretty good after sitting out five-plus months. Souza should have known that, or at least given it a test run at some point before Whale was scraped off the ice at BC. He is still (in his mind, this season perhaps even more than last season) coaching for his job, and while I hope you're right - because it's the right decision - so far it looks like nothing has changed. That's a concern.

I did read they blocked as many, or more, shots last night. That’s an encouraging early season development that could pay off in big games the rest of the way. That hasn’t always been a hallmark at UNH.
Understatement of the season to date ... but the season is still young, and yes, that's way more encouraging than Whale hanging out in witness protection so far.

Is that the standard you're holding everyone to now? Do you consider D-1 players who are on partial if not full scholarships, and now with NIL and stipends, to meet your definition of AMATEUR? What if a 27 year old "kid" is playing in the ECHL for less than AMATEUR players in D-1? Does he belong in your little safe space too?!?

I honestly have very little concern about what the "kids" are doing in their spare time at UNH, but I at least hope part of it involves studying and trying to keep their eligibility intact. What about the 19 year old "kid" who blows an assignment on the ice, and costs the team 2 points? Is that game for debate/criticism?? Or are we extending D-1 hockey into the land of participation trophies, where the allowable content is limited to "good try - don't forget your orange slices"?!?

Attacking the kids in the program on message boards is gutless. Only people with zero accomplishments in their own lives do it. Those losers are not friends of UNH hockey.
Isn't everyone in the program 18 years old or over? Legally, they're adults, no??

Stick to protecting underachieving coaches/sackless admins, and avenging the microaggressions you've sustained, against those who've hurt your feelz.

Maybe certain coaches/admins appreciate your "useful idiot" efforts on their behalf, but the players themselves bristle at being called "kids" at their ages.

Dan, thanks for your earlier comments on former players. Chauvette has indeed been very solid in his 2/3 starts. Looking at the schedule going forward, I would have to think he starts against Merrimack and then we see Whale against LIU with Chauvette returning against the Q.
And speaking of shotblocks, how about the kid from Concord, Ryan Phillbrick. 5 blocks Thursday and several more on Friday and his defense was solid.
