UNH- How Far West Do We Go?

Looks like UNH took Union as lightly as some of its fans on this forum did.
I did not necessarily take Union lightly, but cannot give up two penalties in the first and then a major in the second (even if the refs are woke according to e.cat) and expect a good outcome, especially to a team that owns hardware. Very disappointing.

Well getting beyond psyched to travel to the Albany area tomorrow..I mean Dinosaur BarBCue and picking up some maple Bailey's at the store on the hump !?!
Kind of nostalgic / bittersweet to go there as the first time to Troy was with a good friend who is no longer with us. And of course seeing the new Union digs will be huge haha. Third trip seeing the 'Cats play Union and (checks notes) I see I am 0-2 so feeling pretty positive we will beat 'em this time!
Til tomorrow..
Oops, you are 0-3 with UNH vs Union games now, Ref.

Looks like Chuck was the only one here to predict this loss, albeit not by such a lopsided score.

Interesting convo with some Union fans..said basically the coach after Rick Bennet was an assistant at Clarkson and its taken 3 or so seasons but he's shaping them up to a fast paced game...and it shows.
I knew it wasnt going to be easy. Hard to find a redeeming factor aboit tonight...Union was good and we were not. I was glad to see the return of da Whale tho.
At least...we didnt get skunked in the North Country like some teams (small consolation)
Onto UConn. Would love a Sat night W?!?!

Dear Coach Souza,

Please do the right thing and RESIGN.

Not everyone is cut out to be a D-1 hockey coach and clearly you are in over your head in this role.
There is no shame in coming to this realization. Just do the right thing.

Signed,
A UNH alumnus And 30+ year Hockey season ticket holder

PS- If there are any of you Souza apologists out there that don’t agree with I what I say ,you can feel free to private message me. I refuse to engage with any bullshit on this board any further.

Glad that I thought the game was at 7 and not 5 so I missed most of the debacle that this game was. Watched some of it on my phone at dinner until it was 4-0 and our PP was horrible again.

Are we more embarrassed than Lowell who lost by 6 also but at least score a goal? Can we safely say after 11 games plus an exhibition that the CHL guys are not the answer?

Even if Lavins is back this week, I don't see it getting better.

You are now going to get a nickname from Potty, welcome to the club.

It’s just Buford being Buford. To summarize, Buford doesn’t know but nevertheless decides to prove it to us all in a 400 word manifesto
Thompson Arena was build in 1975. The team is 6-0. Also, the education at Dartmouth and requirements are probably higher than getting into UNH. But the shiny locker room matters.....

I was at both the umass lowell and UNH games. Not sure how or why UNH would take Union lightly when they have been leading D1 in shots on goal and pk, and completely manhandled umass lowell last night (whose only goal was a fluke shortie w 2 min left). Union has some really talented players with an offense that can be real trouble, as these two Hockey East teams found out getting outscored 13-1.

While Buford, Meathead and Scott become hysterical, the rest of us are better off focusing on relevant facts. UNH has played five two game weekends. UNH won all 5 Friday night games and lost all 5 Saturday games. That’s likely immaturity. Coach Souza and the team captains certainly should be held accountable.

FWIW, Conmy had 2 goals and 2 assists for BC this weekend. BC swept UMass. It’s unfortunate that Buford, Meathead and Scott feel UNH has no use for highly skilled offensive players such as Conmy.

As if you have some groundswell of support on here lol. Oh yeah, I forgot - you've archived old IM's, and are going to blackmail some of the UNH posters. "Facts" is (are) ... no one cares what you think, no one cares what you say, and I certainly don't give a crap if someone threw me under the bus three years ago when you were on here pretending (in your "real" or original persona) to be just another normal person. I used to think CDS stood for Casey DeSmith ... now every time you come on here to post crap - even before I have a chance to get "hysterical" - you display this full-blown case of Chuck Derangement Syndrome. 🤪🤪🤪🤪

Another perfect example of potty's CDS. I've never said Conmy wasn't talented (certainly in a UNH frame of reference) and never claimed to have any direct insight into what other former UNH teammates thought of him. I have said that I know the probable sources other posters are referencing, and they are very likely credible sources ... and as to Conmy himself, he was a big fish in a little pond, now is fighting not to be the small fish in the big pond that is BC. So it looks like he had a decent weekend, so good for him, and good for BC. He's not a UNH player anymore, so most of us don't care, and nothing written (by others) on this board has or had the slightest impact on where he was gonna be playing his D-1 hockey this season.

You're a tool - just own it, dude (?). As e.cat would no doubt conclude with ... "Thank you for your attention to this matter."

I don’t give an effin’ shit what Potty thinks or what he/she calls me. Thanks to the “ignore” feature, I can’t even see what he/she posts anyway.

And, after 25+ years and 7,000+ posts, I’ve decided that it’s time to move on and hang it up here on USCHO, and perhaps time to bid adieu as a UNH season ticket holder at the end of the season. There were indeed some remarkable years with this team! The current administration, whether they are driven by financial constraints or other factors show little interest in moving this program forward and are content to maintain the status quo.

That’s all well and good, but my entertainment dollars can be put to better use elsewhere. I will try to glean any entertainment value for the remainder of the season, and “hope for the best”.

I’m outta here!! Cheers everyone!!

UNH Hockey (and UNH in general) are in trouble when dedicated long-time fans like Scott lose interest and leave. And when stuff like this is happening, it's like the iceberg effect, where you see like the top 10% above the surface, while 90% more is going out the door without any public notice to anyone.

All because some undermotivated, lazy, and (arguably) ignorant school admin can't admit her mistake in extending this guy three years instead of the one year he (marginally) earned two seasons ago. Scott is justified in asking for the resignation, but considering the current head coach is unlikely to ever earn this kind of money again once his UNH tenure runs out, I don't see him stepping away on his own. He seems unhappy and/or uneasy with his public presence obligations anyway, but there are bills to be paid, and tush to be kissed to facilitate the other bennies he is "enjoying", so I don't see anything changing until Spring 2027 at the earliest.

All the while, Luce & Company are circling like vultures, and there is also UMaine to be dealt with before Christmas break ...

And, do not forget that the Cats must visit the Falcons in Waltham on November 29th. Maybe Norbert hedged with either five or six more possible wins because he is not sure whether the Cats can beat Bentley?

Friday nights game with maine unh should be a barn burner. saturday should be snooze fest as neither team will show up

Buford: you are such an inbred hillbilly loser. It’s not Souza’s fault that you couldn’t make much money. A glimpse of your avatar explains your failures all too well.

Souza is a symptom of a much larger problem, which is UNHs lack of commitment to excellence academically and athletically. People like you don’t understand that. The program will not improve unless UNH makes it a priority. Not going to happen because that costs money, which hillbillies like you can’t afford. Scott and Meathead are just like you.

Firing Souza is tantamount to putting new wheels on a car with no engine.

Welp so all I wanna say what's been in my head since leaving the game early last night..and mostly it was more related to my knee...is the excitement of the 2 Union fans sitting next to me. Also was sick of hearing the goal horn if Im also being honest but I digress.

They were excited to see that after a few seasons of building under their new coach that they were reaping the benefits. Change brought them from a team who played a plodding defensive game style (their words) to a team who brought the offense and could make you pay for defensive mistakes. (Pretty much last night's game).

I think UNH fans are longing for the same...and I know this team is working hard to gel. They pulled together to beat RPI (I had my doubts...I mean..given the history) and knew they'd have to step up big time v the U. Not sure they knew what hit them from the get go but sure hope this coming weekend shows they got something out of this thrashing. Saod ot already Union has a very good team. Hear that Winters will be back and Lavins not until Dec.

Scott...dont know if you will read this but what a shame you feel you have to leave this board. Your insight is one I always look to for whats really going on in all things UNH hockey! Hope to see you around the 'Whitt. Sigh.

Don't have the answer but sure would be nice to feel that same level of hope and excitement that those two U fans have. I do remain hopeful and I will continue cheer for these boys they deserve it. So do the fans.

Just so I can get in on the name calling, it's pretty easy with the letters my user name stand for. Mike Souza is a lousy excuse for a head coach, born out of Umile nepotism who hasn't won anything except the ill gotten gains of 2 unearned contract extensions from the UNH Athletics brain trust.

Hey, MS7 rode Helsten’s coattails to a 20-win season two years ago. I thought that it could happen again this season, but now I admit that it is pretty much impossible. Maybe next year, which would make more sense as MS7 will be pulling out all the stops for another contract extension.
