UNH Hockey Off Season Thread 2026

Where were you when President Magoo's DOJ needed you a few years ago, when they were trying to throw everything else at the wall, hoping something stuck?

SPOILER ALERT: Nothing stuck, and the Democrats got crushed in the 2024 elections as payback for wasting everyone's time with various fake DJT "Orange Man Bad" narratives. 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Are we at war with Iran or not?

Colgate season ticket-holder here. I am already looking forward to New Hampshire coming to our Class of 1965 Arena in Hamilton, N.Y., in mid-October to complete the reciprocal agreement. Remind me… do UNH fans ‘travel well?’
This one does! Im not afraid of the streets of Burlington OR Schenectady (inside joke here). Poking around going! Tell me some fun things to do between games!

WTF does that have to do with your bizarre take on the Epstein Files?!? Is the local NPR/MPR outlet manager off on a bender this week?!?

If that's all you got ... then by all means, let's step aside and let Schedule Release Euphoria take hold for a few days/weeks, as it should ...

If Emile Guite is still playing college hockey in his fifth season then his collegiate career will have been a major disappointment
Maybe. But it's also possible that he develops gradually over the course of his college career. If he spends five years at UNH, earns his master's degree, and signs his first professional contract at 23, I don't think that would necessarily be a disappointment. There are plenty of players who take a longer developmental path and still go on to have successful professional careers.

That said, I agree that if he develops quickly enough to leave earlier for a pro opportunity, that would certainly be a positive outcome as well. Ultimately, the goal is steady development, regardless of whether that timeline is three years or five.

Alumni news. Robert Cronin completed his first season in the ECHL with the Maine Mariners. In 72 games he had a line of 19-37-56 and a +13. Maine made it to the Northern divisions finals he had 10 points in the playoffs not a bad start. Alex Gagne and the Colorado Eagles will play tonight in game 7 of the AHL western conference finals.

Thanks for sharing! Cronin really seems to have found something in the summer between his Junior and Senior season. Going from 33 pts in 94 games his first 3 years (~0.35 pts/game) to nearly matching that point total as a senior (28 in 35, ~0.8 pts/game) and then a similar ~0.78 pts/game in his first full season in the ECHL. I don’t know if it was coaching, hard work, a combination of both, or something else - but kudos to him! He’s likely bought himself a couple more years of hockey, and maybe perhaps a look at the AHL level.

Looking forward to tracking his progress next year.

2008 UNH recruit Blake Cash was chosen in the sixth round [number 100] in the QMJHL draft by Quebec. Hopefully he can crack the lineup.

Greenland, NH, forward Joey St Laurent was drafted in the 3rd Round (49th Overall) by Newfoundland. I believe he is the son of UNH alum Jeff St Laurent (90-93), who was originally from Rochester. Joey was the second leading scorer for the North Jersey Avalanche 15U AAA club this season.

It would be a wild story to see St. Laurent join Cash in Durham, and both players have high scoring careers. No offense intended to their fathers, but the elder two combined for just 23 games played and a 1-2--3 scoring line, with each skating three seasons as Wildcats...

--

In addition to St Laurent & Cash, three more NH players were selected (for a total of five)...

CJ Sawyer, F - 3rd, Cape Breton - Pelham, NH
Mason Stonacek, D - 5th, Moncton - New Ipswich, NH
Ryan Poirier, D - 8th, Baie-Comeau - Salem, NH (Harvard Commit)
