UNH Hockey Off Season Thread 2026

Has anyone heard news on the likelihood of this passing?
I assume it will.

Ironically Allison Rich will have a say in it:

"The Division I Management Council will ultimately be making the decision. Of its members, three have some relationship to college hockey — New Hampshire athletic director Allison Rich, Michigan State deputy athletic director Jennifer Smith, and Mid-American Conference commissioner Jon Steinbrecher."

His name just popped up on Gopher Puck Live. I believe the 5 year rule would have to pass because right now it say's he has 0 years eligibility.
My guess is that even if the rule passes, it will be applied prospectively rather than in a way that disrupts the current landscape. That approach would avoid reopening portal windows, creating scholarship conflicts, or reigniting NIL negotiations. Hopefully, older players who still have time remaining under the new framework would be grandfathered in.

"Maintain existing rules — allowing four seasons of competition in five years of eligibility — for student-athletes competing in the 2025-26 academic year; new rules are not expected to retroactively apply to student-athletes whose eligibility is or will be completed by the spring of 2026."
