The view from 80,000 feet ain't bad. Down in the weeds? Not so much.

80,000 ft? How about 254 miles from the Space Station?

Also, I apologize to anyone offended by my negativity on our threads (see Maine thread).

You aint wrong. On the brightside I read Jeff Cox mentioned that Jack Hughes the 01 phenon playing for U18 USNDTP would possibly be interested in Michigan or UNH. Honestly, I think there is a better chance of Sidney Crosby quitting the NHL and enrolling at UNH.....

He wouldn’t get ice time for three years, but he’d have a shot at captain by senior year.

It's depressing when you look to this page once in awhile, and there's no good news to signal a brighter future. :(

Hey Chuck

Since the WIS guys are running a lot of numbers lately, what with the Quest and the GRSN, perhaps they could give us some other numbers. Like the probability that Tim Stutzle ever shows in Durham. Or my favorite whether UNH will ever get on an airplane again to play on out of conference game.

Tim Stutzle the next Marco Sturm, will go straight to AHL/NHL without passing 'Go,' (Div 1).

Chances of "Sargeant" Stutzle ever showing up in Durham: 60%
What the "Sarge" is likely to accomplish at UNH: See Banga, Travis
Chances of UNH traveling by air to an OOC game next season: 30%

So, goalie for next year? Looks like Wisconsin is going to get the Russian GB Zhultov who Dan mentioned. There's Ty Taylor up in Vernon BC, who may well be the choice. There's a rawer, bigger kid on Central Scouting lists, Jett Anderson in Ontario, and there's transfer Matt Jurusik in the USHL, who may be more ready, having two years at Wisconsin before they churned him out.

Not sure what forwards are available, except there's a couple of Euros in the USHL.

The two best bets for goaltender recruits in the USHL are two more Europeans.

Mikhail Berdin is the starter in Sioux Falls. He posted a .925 save percentage in 31 games last season and has a .924 SPCT in 26 games this year. He is 6-3 / 180 goalie from Ufa, Russia and was a sixth-round pick of WPG in 2016.

Matej Tomak backs up Jared Moe in Waterloo, is 6-3 / 185 and a native of Bratislava, Slovakia. He sports a 2.38 GAA and but just a 908 SPCT in 18 games played. He was a third round pick by PHI in 2015 and turns 21 in May.

Still, I think the most likely scenario for UNH next season is Robinson/Clark...

---

Filip Suchy scored his 20th goal of the season (30 GP) for Omaha in the USHL. Marek Valach and Nicolas Werbik each have 15 for Cedar Rapids and Des Moines, respectively.

Eric Linell and his 27 BCHL goals committed to UConn. Still available in the BCHL are Ben Brar (23-23-46), Ben Poisson (20-29-49) and Levi Glasman (20-27-47).

UNH does not take transfers. It apparently reflects a weakness on the part of the player not to stick out their original commitment.

That would be crazy. Clark, as a Canadian and a presumptive starter, probably has a decent chunk of scholarship money. They barely play Clark now, and so for his likely scholarship rate, having a 4 game a year backup is a complete waste of money.
And on that topic, where is all the scholarship money? Robinson was recruited as a third string in-State kid, so probably a half scholarship kid at most.

The third fourth and fifth lines are all marginal scholarship kids, save for Fregona and Crookshank, probably decent money, and MacAdams probably a half sort of kid. On D, Dawson, Verrier, Boyd and Green are marginal scholarship kids, with Green perhaps the most, and Verrier and Dawson late adds so maybe 1 for 4 kids.

So with all those partials, they should have two to three fuller scholarship kids available. That's why I'm thinking they get a larger scholarship goalie. Maybe they're holding off for a month so Co-Coach Lassonde can make the final call? ;)
