Separate subject...
I can't remember how well New Hampshire 'travels,' but if you have any fans coming to Colgate in Hamilton, N.Y., this weekend, I have a suggestion:
I sit in Section 9, top row 6, near a proud former New Hampshire University hockey player (forward turned defenseman).
His name is R. Braden Houston and he played at UNH in 1963-66.
On Saturday, December 28, 1963, he scored the final goal in UNH's 6-3 win over Vermont in the finals of the Yankee Conference Tournament and was named to the all-tournament team.
He was UNH Captain in his senior year of 1965-66 and earned himself a spot on the United Press International (UPI) All-Eastern Small College hockey team (along with Dude Thorn of UNH).
I believe that he still holds the UNH record for most goals by a defenseman (career, 1964-66), which was 35 goals.
He later served as the head coach for Colgate University Men’s Ice Hockey team from 1972-1975 and Head Coach of the Colgate Golf team for 28 years and was the Head Coach of the Colgate University Women’s Ice Hockey program transitioning it from a club program (1995-1997) to a varsity program (1997-1999) before retiring in 2005.
Anyway, I am sure that he would enjoy meeting current UNH men's ice hockey fans and staff at this weekend's games. I have gotten to know him over the last nine years as a Colgate season ticketholder, and I just think the world of him and his wife "Chipper."
Here is his wiki bio and another bio (with his photo)...
