UNH 2025 Offseason: Where in the World is MS7?

Dan, while I want to share your optimism, and agree that it's somewhat encouraging to see the coaching staff has sought out a new place to buy "groceries", that's likely largely (if not only) been a matter of necessity, as opposed to choice. Spending the better part of a decade shopping in other markets has gotten the program less than nowhere. Reputations in the advisor/agent community in those areas are pretty much set in stone, and not in a good way. Yeah, I applaud the guys jumping on this new opportunity, and doing so with apparent urgency ... but let's be honest, did they have any real alternative but to jump in with both feet ASAP??

Who knows what connections they are utilizing up there? Hopefully we'll find out that UNH got the drop on several other programs, many of whom might have the luxury of watching how this new source of D-1 players works out. MS7 & Company probably have a very tight one year window to maximize the novelty of this new approach, after which some of those who are lurking and assessing the CHL market will no doubt jump in next season IF it looks like a viable strategy to build their respective programs, too. And if UNH doesn't make hay while the sun is shining this season, it's not gonna get any easier after that.

At the end of the day ... if the coaching staff can't coach their new guys up, the ceiling on what they might be able to accomplish will turn out to be lower than it might otherwise have been. And when we're looking at a 15-16 year old QMJHL draftee who is already 6'3" and apparently skilled and mobile, there's almost no chance Souza and Michaud will consummate their new recruiting commitment, as skilled kids with that size (with room to grow to Pronger-esque proportions) will generate a LOT of attention, and develop a whole new raft of suitors who will have more than just NIL to offer him. Souza's current deal expires before the Michaud kid is likely even NHL Draft eligible.

Let's say he doesn't even "pop" into blue chip territory ... but with his size and decent skill, at worst he'll project to a middle round draft pick (3rd/4th round). Do you think that kid is still coming to UNH? Based on recent UNH history, I doubt it. :( Unless the current coaching staff has an epiphany, there's no chance an NHL team that's invested a middle round pick on him is gonna run the risk of letting him stagnate without top quality instruction to prepare him for the big leagues (not the AHL or the 'Coast). Even the Kings wouldn't trust UNH with a hit-and-hope 6th round pick like Conmy. The outlook on that front is grim, sad to say ... UNLESS the whole approach has changed. And hopefully the guys are practicing their "cooking" skills to augment their new "shopping" approach.

Only two more months to go before we all start to get answers to these questions, and see if the old dogs have been learning new tricks ...

In the late 60’s / early 70’s over half the team was from the eastern Canadian provinces, led by Loui Frigon from Montreal, with most of the rest from eastern Mass., along with one notable exception being Guy Smith from Buffalo. Good times!

Bummer, but not surprising to me, as I still think that UNH blew it by not bringing back Bogie as head coach.
Couldn't agree with you more, Snives. Does any other HEA school do as poorly as UNH in terms of legacy kids?

I mean, even when we do land one (Sadowski), he gets injured, and his performance plummets. And now, this. Et tu, Bogey?!?

I suppose there's always hope he can recommit/transfer back to Titletown once his dad gets his due in a year or two ...

Even by your incredibly low standards, this is classless post. What's wrong with you? Sadowski committed to UNH. His father is a respected alum. The kid got hurt and you're whining about buyers remorse? The Sadowskis shouldn't have to read this crap.

You're garbage. You need new hobbies.

Chuck “Lefty” Murray won’t defend his comment on Sadowski injury. He will shift the subject. Watch.

Nothing to defend about the last post, you two inbred dolts. Simple statement of facts that have been discussed on here numerous times, to wit, UNH has failed badly at creating any kind of a functional legacy pipeline for the hockey program ... and the one player they do land, they get extremely unlucky with.

You'd have to be incredibly thin-skinned pu$$ie$ to read it any other way. But with you two delicate waifs, all very predictable, and right on cue.

As to changing the subject ... still waiting for Mr. Comic Book expert to dust himself off from his Post 1,061 beatdown to share some expertise with us :ROFLMAO:

Jack Sadowski just turned 19 last week, so plenty of time for him to recover and matriculate at UNH.

Who is “Mr. Comic Book expert”? We had a Comic Book Guy on our threads back in the day who was an excellent insightful poster, I thought.

Is Bishops College School UNH’s new Henry Carr School? Bishops is in Sherbrooke Quebec. I wonder if these two kids actually come to UNH? Guess we’ll have to wait for a letter of intent.

Interesting that the new CHL eligibility rule seems to have transformed UNH recruiting. UNH has successfully recruited older CHL players, Canadien college transfers and now 16 year old prep school kids from Quebec.

I can’t wait for Souza to tell us , er, oh yeah he doesn’t speak to the fans or media. Perhaps Souza can teach Breslow to take the same approach

I think he meant "coloring book" as he told Potluck to use a coloring book in the post# he referenced.

Maine UNH UVM even Providence are uniquely situated to recruit from Quebec and Atlantic Canada. i’m guessing it’s always been true, but now that 16 year olds are no longer forced to choose between CHL and college, they can stay closer to home for both juniors and college. this area is the QMJHL’s recruiting area for similar reasons.

UNH finally funded the upgrades to the Whit and recruits are suddenly committing. I’m too classy to say told you so but, well, spending money often attracts the right kind of attention from recruits.

Btw,, it’s Michaud. Great catch Robert Balin. Wish I had your sources.
Which recruits did we suddenly get?

Hagans back to BC. Projected #1 pick who fell to #7 with a not great year at BC. Maybe he can transfer to UNH now that Potluck/MS7 renovation is a go in 2028

Providence doesn't have nearly the same geographic advantage of UVM, UNH and Maine - not even close - but like it or not, that the school is "Catholic" probably plays into it being the best choice for a few Quebec athletes/families.

Buford’s memory is, well, underwhelming. That’s what undercooked squirrel does to the brain.
... and after you do finally get back with your coloring book recommendations, you can share some of your best recipes for squirrel delicacies?

Hope you don't think I'm being rude for pointing this out potty ... but you sure do seem to have some weird, arcane hobbies.
