UNH 2025 Offseason: Where in the World is MS7?

Conmy is a very skilled player and certainly was an incredible asset to UNH, but he wasn't a transcendent one who was going to resurrect a moribund program.
If Conmy went to Maine he'd be a first or second line forward. Maine doesn't have a bunch of kids that are draft picks but they have a coach that knows how to put the pieces together and get the most out of them.

If Conmy went to Maine he'd be a first or second line forward.

I'd take the bet that he's a 1st-2nd line player just about anywhere he lands. This is not a Jackson Pierson situation.

If people are being honest, he's likely a top-six forward at BU (and BC) this season - and, if by some chance he wasn't - than I guess he's banished to the 3rd line to play with first-rounder Cole Eiserman and second-rounder Kamil Bednarik...

It is a high probability bet.

Anybody looking at him and style of play is not thinking checking line, so 4th line is out as is most 3rd lines.

If you are planning on bringing in a player like Conmy you are projecting 1st or 2nd line. Particularly any Hockey East school who has regularly seen (and coached for) his game in person.

He also fits a good bit of BUs current game. These are not your Jack Parker straight lines terriers anymore (Maine, Uconn and Penn State are more that game). There is a lot of "dangle" in BU's game.

P.S. Eiserman's below the goal line score on OSU, he clearly had a horseshoe jammed up his butt on that one. No look, backhand from below the goal line shot finds the crease in the goalies leg to deflect in. I know he said he practices (really?) shooting for that crease in the goalie equipment... but no look, really... lots of luck on that shot. Man the dangle to get to that spot on the ice sure was impressive, fun talented player to watch.

Grouchy: You posted this at 1:20 a.m. asia time? Remember, you're in asia. Is there an Asia, New Hamphire? Or an Asian restaurant in NH.? I think its more likely you're there.
While I have lived and worked in China and helped to launch wholly owned subsidiaries and joint ventures in six other countries in SEA, I am currently at Chez Grouch.

The amazing thing about technology is that I can work across timezones, mostly overnight, to avoid (most of) my once ridiculous travel schedule.

Since Li Yuen retired and closed her hidden gem of a takeout place which cooked authentic Chinese grandmother food in Hampton five years ago, I default to Chinatown or hitting Kowloon in my late night drives home from Logan. There are no good Chinese places any longer on the coast, but Pink Bamboo does a decent Hua Gua, aka Hot Pot.

Love a good Hot Pot, and it is really about the shared experience. I first really experienced in Ningbo the evening after I had the best Pizza Hut pizza I have ever had. I have never really liked Pizza Hut and still I was stunned how good it was, or it could be after a week of Chinese food something familiar hit the spot. I will say business in China has completely ruined Americanized Chinese food

So true about the Pizza Hut.

When I was working in the Shanxi Province hinterlands, I would take the 9hr train ride into Beijing and PH was always a stop. At the time in the 90s, the American food choices were PH, KFC and McDonalds.

I ate hot pot virtually every day for lunch with a chaser of steamed dumplings and baijou

View them as two completely different cuisines. Problem solved.

Brave New World of College Hockey , he is going where he gets the most money. Don’t blame him , just get used to it.

Hockey East COY, New England Writers COY, and National COY finalist (not announced yet). Must be from all the puff pieces.....
A certain Michael Souza (UNH) was one of the 2024 Bob Kullen HEA Coach of the Year nominees, FWIW. So "hang a banner", Beauty.

Ben Barr should win the Kullen. Luce kisses enough @$$ to win the Hodder. Neither will come close to the Penrose, sorry.

Let's have some fun here! Anyone up for POTLUCK LOTTERY? (Pott-ery?? :))

Let's see if someone out there can ID our mystery poster!! The winner gets a free beer on me at the home opener of the 2025-26 season.

1. Kelly Souza
2, Jeff Guiliano
3. Glenn Stewart
4. "Blue Skies" Scarano
:giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle::giggle:
None of the above ... as much as I'd like it to be #4, he wouldn't be stalking folks on this board, he'd be hiring a fellow paisan to fit me for cement shoes.

#2 and #3 are both probably pretty meh with their boss, as they/ve brought in the Stutzles and Commessos of the world, and MS7 can't close the deal(s).

Given #2's connections with the Kings organization, I would think today's news on Conmy leaving probably puts Guiliano on MS7's "bad" list.

No reason to drag #1 into the fray ... though it's safe to say our anonymous new pal has more in common genetically with Kelly than with Mike ...

Ef that. I'm looking forward to the 45 minute rides to Hanaway Rink in Plymouth instead of to the 45 minute rides into the parking clusterF in Durham... Plymouth has a coach who knows what he's doing; they turn out an entertaining product, more winning than losing EVERY YEAR.
Hanaway Rink is a wonderful venue for hockey games and better yet is only 10 miles from my house. Dick and Peggy Hanaway have left their mark all over the PSU campus, and were also major benefactors of the Silver Center for the Arts. But I am worried that with the state budget cuts to higher education in New Hampshire, PSU and Keene State may not survive.

Sad news to report to the UNH faithful this gloomy Saturday morning ... file this under "Things we weren't supposed to notice" ...

The Official Twitter/X account of UNH Men's Ice Hockey has scrubbed the Conmy/Ring hostage video for the 603 Challenge

I have it on super suspect authority, with absolutely no sourcing at all, that 603 Challenge interns are trying to line up two new victims volunteers.

Silver lining ... in searching for the now-missing video, I discovered a congrats message on there to former UNH star Warren Foegele on the occasion of his 200th NHL career point. Not too shabby for someone who couldn't crack the 'Cats lineup, due to the formidable senior first checking line of Gaudrealt, Smith and MacDonald blocking his progress. It should be pointed out that in GS&M's combined 4 year UNH careers, they totaled an eye-popping 90 points, which is good for an average season of 7.5 points per player, per season. Asst. Coach Jeff Guiliano is now in hiding, with his LA Kings connections under even closer scrutiny ...

Coming attractions ... in search of tenuous links to NHL players who left UNH on poor terms, stay tuned for a career retrospective on Casey DeSmith ...

Perhaps since Zach Hahn has been victim of a MS7 driven rendition to College Woods to ride the pine the last two years, he will be wheeled out blindfolded as a sympathetic hostage to raise ransom, er, I mean funds for the 603 challenge.

Morning Snives - any chance USNH will ultimately find savings by combining UNH Manchester/CPS and Franklin Pierce Law School (Concord)?

Not sure of the tenant/ownership situation in Manch, but I gotta think USNH owns the Concord property, and there's growing resale value in that area.

Gotta think the folks in charge of the budget(s) will want to avoid closing Plymouth State or Keene State, but it's a pretty big number out there.

I'd still love to see the flagship explore a public/private partnership in Durham, with some retail/residency options and long-term parking solutions in the space currently (under)utilized by the infamous "A" Lot, just over the tracks. All of your spectator sports within a short walk, not to mention the Downeaster with its Boston/Portland terminus accesses being right there. Even the Johnson Theater isn't a huge distance away, although I realize they have closer parking options.

The townies may not love the idea ... but it's kind of isolated to the campus, and most out-of-town traffic could be directed to the Rtes. 4/155 interchange.

Not sure if that ambitious concept fits into the timeline for the budget discussions, but I've been trying to sell this one for awhile, why not now?? :)

Ha ha good one. Having strong ties to the NCDC seems to be Souza's only pipeline.
