UNH 2025 Offseason: Where in the World is MS7?

TheGrouchyCat

Litter Box of Bad Ideas
Another sub .500 season has come and gone without a trip to the Garden or NCAA Tournament.

Disappearing like UNH fans' hope for a winning season, the figurehead of a once feared program is nowhere to be found. Not in the papers and certainly not featured on NESN, the program falls into further irrelevance with each day he avoids accountability from the public and fans.

So let's ask the questions we all want answers to, but MS7 chooses to avoid:

1. What level of responsibility do you have for the current state of the program?
2. What is the current status of the capital raise and when should ground be broken?
3. What is the current timeline for the upgrades to be completed?
4. Outside of relying on the Portal and CHL transfers, does UNH have a comprehensive recruiting methodology?
5. Why do you and Rich avoid the media?
6. Why do you and Rich refuse to engage with the fans?
7. Why did UNH shut down the Friends of UNH Hockey? Did you or Scarano make that happen? Why? (Those donations would be awfully useful right now)
8. How did you actually recruit a player like Lavins?
9. With your track record of mediocrity, why should you continue to lead the program?
10. Do you have the respect of your players?

All great questions that deserve a response..tho wouldn't hold your breath too long. Thanks for starting the new thread!

I see where Callum Tung of UConn has inked a pro deal most likely opening the door for TyMuz tho I do believe Cav platooned them most of the season...Wondering when any news of.player movement will happen for us?

Going back to your questions I would bet MS7 feels that 'if' he had decent facilities things would change. Kind of like the ice size.

To me it goes back to my analogy of the dead horse...really one should dismount if that occurs...hmmm.

UNH hockey is running out.of excuses...

Excuses, excuses, excuses.

It was the Jumbotron.

It was the rink size.

It's now the facilities and a lack of amenities.

When will it be the coach?

Lavins Decommited from St Cloud State and kinda fell in Souza's lap. I have no idea if had pursued him anytime sooner.
Hmmm, best overall player on the 24 squad, Hellsten, falls into the lap of MS7.

The standout player on the 25 squad, Lavins, falls into the lap of MS7.

Quite the strategy, Souza...

Hands off Lavins...
This article about UConn's shift in culture is interesting and leads to another question I'd ask MS7..."how could you describe the culture at UNH? What drives it?

Culture...lower expectations so the fans expect the worst and are pleasantly surprised by occasional big win?

It's a poor situation to be in. Maine was there not that long ago asking many of the same questions. I'll ask this, if MS7 were to step away tomorrow, who would be your ideal candidate?

Either. If you could get anyone, who would it be? Who do you think you could realistically get?
Tavis MacMillan out of DU, assuming UNH would pony up the salary.

Two titles as a player and three as an assistant coach tells me he knows something about a winning culture. Couple that with NHL scouting experience and you have a coach with an eye for talent and a track record of success at a program with most national titles in NCAA Hockey history.

How much are HE coaches making. I think Barr makes around $425K ish with annual raises? Souza is making quite a bit less isn't he, $240K maybe?

Who wud be good replacement for ms7…… best to listen to NCAA watcher, he seems to have a good handle on that question.

Have you all considered going back to the original Olympic rink size? 🤣kidding of course…. But that was quite an advantage, was it not ?

What about Torts? Come finish out his career in Durham.

You're the third person who has brought that up...Assuming he would accept pennies on the dollar, I'm not sure what would be more entertaining, the team he's put on the ice or the explosive battles he'd have with the administration, the AD and the media.

Certainly would be entertaining.

It would be two-on-one Tortorellas (John & Jim) ganging up on the AD f/k/a SB. I'd pay serious money to watch that play out.

Which is why it would never happen. Besides, I still hate John T. for his Game 82 antics at the end of the '24 NHL season. Glad he got fired. Karma.
