UNH 2024/2025 Goldberg Edition

Damien Carfagna got 2 assists in Ohio State 4-1 win last night to give him 5 goals and 16 assists on the season.

“Why cannot we get D-men like dat? Oh ….. wait …..”

Or, “Where would we play him?”

Maybe MS7 will get an additional 3-year extension to April 2030 based on the tie in Orono tonight?

As long as the Whitt continues its 5000+ average attendance, I think that MS7 is secure as head coach for as long as he wants to stay.

HEA home rink average attendance per USCHO for first 12-15 games (rink capacity):
BC 7110 (7884)
BU 5207 (6221)
UNH 5106 (6501)
Maine 4906 (5114)
UML 4782 (6003)
UMass 4530 (8373)
UConn 3458 (2600)
NU 3348 (4047)
PC 2676 (3030)
UVM 2580 (4007)
Mac 2251 (2549)
Nah he's not going anywhere. But even if Maine didn't play well (listening to Ben B's post game) it's too bad we didn't pull that one out. Thought the team played well under that pressure.

Game outcome reminds me of one I went to up there I think in '18 where we had the same 1 zip lead...lost with seconds to go on a stupid penalty then seconds into the OT it was over. Also got harassed leaving and vowed it would be the last time I'd go up there and it was.

Anyway suspect Maine will come well prepared tonight and hope the 'Cats do as well..they deserved that win.

Still predicting a Maine W 4-1 is my new prediction.

Yeah he's having a great season...Dan prob knows but his team seems poised to make a run of things this season. Maybe they will add a title along with their football team?

Good physical structured game from you guys. Where was this week's before? I worry however you may have left it all on the ice tonight but it was a good enough performance for a Souza extension? 😂
Suspect tonight will be a LOT easier for the home team.

Seems MS7 being able to maintain a pulse and breathe enough to fog a mirror might be good enough with AD SB ... :ROFLMAO:

He made two predictions in the same post. He predicted a split and in the next sentence a sweep by Maine. He talks so much he will likely cover all permutations by game time.

Thanks for trying to pin him down to one prediction though. He is a sneaky rodent that way.

Chuck, stick to one prediction. You can run but you can’t hide.
Y'know, I blame myself for giving you too much credit for intelligence. You really are a dumb-a$$ simpleton, spanky.

Yes, I predicted a UMaine sweep (as did you), so that makes both of us wrong. Yet here you are, taking some weird version of a victory lap after a lucky UMaine tie last night, where despite your assurances there was "no way" UMaine was gonna overlook UNH ... just like BC did last Friday night, that's just what UMaine did last night.

Now I'll rite this part in small words so you can read slow, and pick up on what I was laying down the other day. I did not make a second set of picks ... what I said was, if UNH was gonna have any shot at a win this weekend, it would depend on UMaine being too cocky (I'd write "overconfident", but your brane might go boom) ... and then aftah a Friday night blowout, your boys might git drunk between games, and it would be a better game Saturday. Well ... instead it looks like your guys got tanked the nite before, and avoided a loss to the worst team in HEA by 40 or so seckinds. Now Ben Barr will have locked up the licker cabnit last night, in hopes his guys will be "scayud strate" for tonite's game. The very sobah Black Bears come out latah today and koste to a 6-2 win. Not kwite a sweep, but gud enuff, ayuh??

Told ya they were gonna look past us 🤣🤣🤣!!!!!!

At this point, it's hard for anyone not to look past us. Except maybe Scotty B, but that's a different story.

Being in last place in HEA, deserving relegation to Atlantic Hockey ... if you're overlooking UNH, you're paying attention.

We are the super creamiest of creme-filled cupcakes in the Nigel Metcalf Sweetshop that is UNH.

But isn't that fitting when the shop is being attended by "Sugar-Br!tche$" ... asking for a friend, Grouch?? :ROFLMAO:

It is so satisfying knowing that the choke job by UNH last night got under your skin. You blowhard ass hat.

This is fascinating. It shows that the UNH fan base is more committed to the program than the state or school is. UNH hockey has been been more or less moribund for about 10 years yet the fans support is still there. UNH hockey fans are similar to the pre Bobby Orr Bruins fans.

Yeah many of us 'keep coming back' tho many have left so these numbers are interesting to say the least. This is the first year ever in my 10 plus years of being a STH that I've received an actual phone call to renew...Wonder if the powers that be are concerned that the current STH's might bolt. Hmmm.

I thought UNH played great. I was wondering if it was the 90s devils out there. Trap is a boring game to watch but there was no lack of effort from them and watching in person they hit everyone cleanly and fought hard

I wouldn't trust the marketing-department-media-relations-reported-numbers as far as I could throw them. But if I had to, and assuming they are all equally "pumped", maine has the highest "occupancy" (or utilization) rate, if you exclude UConn which must have a lot of SRO?? Snively, maybe those are flipped or typo'ed...?

I think that the Yukon attendance numbers include some games at the Hartford Civic Center.

Like any habitually losing team worth its corn, UNH gets that "gosh, you guys played great, shame about the result" stuff a lot these days, groovy. I'm sure you guys (except perhaps skippy?) haven't forgotten the Red Gendron era, where you probably had a lot of that coming your way. Hopefully someday, we'll have a real AD whose idea of hockey doesn't involve candy cane sticks and skirts (sorry 'Ref), and that person will hire a head coach whose ability to coach hockey has progressed beyond the Marshwood Mites, and whose reputation will draw some real talented players back to the program. As it is, I figure we've got one (1) guy - Conmy - who has a shot at playing more than a handful of games at the AHL level - much less the NHL. It must be nice for him to know (per Norbert) his draft club is still keeping tabs on his development. Unlike Luke Reid, who probably hasn't heard from his draft club in several years now.

It's a mess, surprisingly so after last year's uptick, but only "surprising" and not shocking because of the coaching issues.

I'm sure the pep talks from MS7 are brilliant though. As if most of those guys don't already realize these last few games of the season will be the apex of their mostly mediocre careers, shortly to move onto decisions like "Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs, or Uncle Phil's lumber yard?" once their UNH eligibility expires. So they put in the effort, sure, they'll hit anything that moves, check, hoping someone from the 'Coast or SPHL is in the house, looking for some willing goon league fodder for next season. I feel badly for those guys, they've been let down by the folks they entrusted their D-1 careers (and beyond) to. Say what you want about Coach Umile, but at least his guys left as better players than what they arrived as. His guys love him for what he did for them. I doubt MS7 is gonna get that same love ...

Probably Souza loves Umile for what he did for him.

Also, what is the story about candy canes and skirts? A real thing or another of your fictitious hiccups similar to your made up reasons to hate Coach Cavanaugh of UConn?

Conor Lovett now has 4 goals, tied for eighth most on the team, but is third on the team in the much disparaged “shooting percentage,” not counting Ryan MacPherson who has one goal on five SOG for 20%.

Good UNH coaching on that face off in front of Boija with 2.5 secs remaining in second.

Skrastins’ first goal of the season, with assist from Sweeney, gives the fourth line 7 total now. I was not happy with the coaching decision to split up Conmy, LeClerc, and Devlin onto three separate lines, but maybe that is beginning to work?
