I’m hoping for the Beavers first victory over the Fighting Sioux since BSU made the move to DI hockey in the 1999-2000 season. Since moving to DI, BSU is 0-14-1 versus UND. Despite UND’s dominance in the series, 8 of the last 11 contests have resulted in a Sioux margin of victory of a goal, which includes UND’s last three trips to Bemidji. I would like to note that because these games were non-conference in the past; neither team would put their best roster on the ice. Non-conference games are for giving backup goalies and players that don’t dress often some ice time. That being said, I would argue that the games meant more to the Beavers when playing WCHA teams. They would get more fired up competing against an elite College hockey team. In the past, any chance to gain respect in the college hockey was huge for the program.
I would love to see a BSU sweep, would be very happy with a split and if I was betting in Vegas, the numbers would say take UND in a sweep.
I’m just taking a stab at the top three lines for BSU this weekend, let me know what you think…
Top Line
Lowe (Lead teams with 21 goals last year)
Reed (Lead team with 41 points last year)
George (34 points in the most by a rookie since BSU moved to DI)
Second Line
Illo (freshman, played for Slovakia in WJHC last year)
Fisher (Junior, sat out last year, played for Gophers for two years prior)
Jubinville (freshman, heard he looked good last weekend in Green\White game)
Third Line
Kinne (junior, 24 pts last season)
Cramer (Senior, 21 pts last season)
MacQueen (Junior, 17 pts last season)
Does anyone know the status of Kinne, will he be in the lineup this weekend?
