UND @ SCSU: The Protesting Series

Re: UND @ SCSU: The Protesting Series

How does Frattin get sandwiched between Marvin and Barta and not only come out of it standing but maintains possession and buries it?

We'll take the point, and I swear I'm not hitting the panic button, but UNO Saturday, UMD Saturday, UND Friday. Blowing leads. Beginning to see a pattern...

Re: UND @ SCSU: The Protesting Series

Frattin did that because: 1)He leads the league in scoring (highly skilled), and 2)He probably will be MVP in the WCHA this year (highly skilled). Again, Huskies have a few defensive breakdowns (Jensen, Gravel, Marvin/Barta) and the Sioux capitalize on all three.

Giving up leads (especially 3 goal leads!) has been a problem. But don't forget that last night the Huskies are down 2-0. Instead of first half response of hanging their heads and playing like idiots, the Huskies came back, gained momentum and scored three straight. Give credit to the Sioux--lead the league, #2 in the country--for scratching back and getting the tie. And Frattin is one of very few that would have scored on the play with 3+ minutes remaining.

That was a fun hockey game.

Re: UND @ SCSU: The Protesting Series

Yeah, after they made it 2-0 I was a little afraid they might have a meltdown like the Friday in Omaha and give up a few in a short period of time. But they battled back nicely and scored and gotta give credit to Frattin, there aren't too many guys in the league that will score that goal.

Oh my God!!! At least you're not talking about your dog's boner anymore... That was you right? My memory is fading fast...

As a matter of fact, spring is in the air, and my 2 dogs are trying to bone each other. Kind of fun to watch.

The last goal? Anytime a guy comes in, 1 on 1 with Mr Lee, he ducks to avoid getting hit by the puck, and subsequently the guy scores. On the second goal, he's way out of the net, leaving plenty of room for the Sioux boy to score. I suppose it would be too much to expect the goalie to stop pucks from going in. But all they have to do on Mr. lee is shoot over his shoulder. But don't forget, he's taking us to a national championship. I think the only way he does that is if he's driving the bus or flying the plane.

SCSU showed a lot of character clawing back and fighting their way to a tie that could have very easily been a win.

The problem I have Boomer is guys like Barta are not very good. Everybody is talking how he is so improved and I agree he is improved. However, it just goes to show how bad he was the last three years becuase he still is not very good.......

Overall Lee played a very good game and kept the team in the game. For that he should get a lot of credit, but is it to much to ask for the guy to make a game saving save once in a while to help get this team over the hump?

Especially Barta and Gravel. Those two were on the ice for two of UND's three goals last night and a majority of the goals they scored against us earlier this season. The Jensen / Lauridson and the Johnson / Zabs pairs cannot play too much. They've gotta show up and be ready to play a vast majority of the game if we plan to take another three points this weekend.

Fun game alright. But St. Cloud should have won.

Thing is that he does make game saving saves, all the time.
He doesn't get credit for them because the outcome ends up different.
That was a great shot from a very good player and I don't know if any goalie in the league makes that save.

Not to be critical, but game saving saves would mean the game was saved foam a loss. Not to be critical of Lee, but he has been a major disappointment. I mean that in a positive way. May peace and happiness be his, but as a big time goalie, he sucketh. Again, I mean that in a good way.

I get what you're saying.
If he were facing 3 defensive breakdowns a game and not stopping them, that'd be one thing.
When he's facing 15-20 a night, it's hard to blame him when they lose.
Yes I get it doesn't matter if they lose by 1 or 50, but I do think he keeps them in games other goalies wouldn't.

The leads against UNO and fUMD were by 3 goals really early. This was a 1-goal lead that we had for about 6 minutes. Hardly the same.

It wasn't a soft goal, but it also wasn't such a great shot no goalie could have stopped it...... This just isn't our year....

Re: UND @ SCSU: The Protesting Series

Yeah, it definately wasn't a rocket of a shot right up under the crossbar. Kind of a wobbly floater of a shot. Gotta wonder if he was surprised that Frattin even got the shot off and it handcuffed him a little bit. Still, he made a couple good saves earlier that kept us in it even though we only had 4 shots on goal halfway through the 2nd.
