UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

I don't know if this is funny...they simply don't want conference opponents playing each other in the first round. I happen to agree that it's unfortunate UND and Denver were in the same regional, but then again, it's not like Denver steamrolled Western Michigan. They pretty much followed bracket integrity as Michigan and Merrimack we're basically tied.

Anyway, yes, UND is the best team I've seen coming down the stretch. I'll be pretty surprised if they don't win the whole thing.

Even dumbsh*s like us knew UND/DU would be in the Green Bay bracket, due to PWR. We figured out 11/16 teams IIRC for brackets, and there were two things we were absolutely sure of (not counting host rules): tUMD was going east, and UND/DU would be in Green Bay. It's simple math.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

As a MN fan who hates UND with every ounce of my soul, I have to agree with this. UND is friggin' scary. If they don't win it all this year.......

That being said, for the second time in 3 weeks, I'll be surrounded by UND fans, which itself is pure torture. And now I'll have to hear "Hail" 523,923,608 times. And that's just on Thu.

I know there's a hell, and apparently it's called "St Paul on April 7th."

How could a Sioux fan not feel a little giddy. First, the Sioux end DU's season with a beatdown then we are told by a true blue gopher fan that we will make his life hell by plaing for the NC in his living room. A little emotional confusion here, as I don't know which is more precious.

But we do feel your pain.

Honestly, I was hoping for another loss to BC on Thu. ;)

But I have this stupid complex where I call 'em like I see 'em. I'm working on that, btw. And right now, UND is winning it all. If not, be prepared for the Hakstol = Woog, or maybe even Hakstol < Woog (due to Woog only recruiting Minnesotans, while Hakstol recruited everywhere). I won't necessarily make that comparison, but there are many others talking about that as we speak.

All in all, MOST of the Sioux fans did take trash-talking as much as they gave it during the F5. I was rather surprised. But they were still annoying. :p

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

I wouldn't say crushed although I am rather nervous about this game. It wouldn't shock me to lose by 3 or 4 goals. That being said I have to stick by my school. Burlon should be back which will help, whether it helps enough is the question. We shall see. Comparing common opponents isn't practical but we beat uno 2 out of 3 times this year while you beat them 2 out of 4.

We shall see which teams show up. I look forward to a good game.
Your team looked very impressive against CC. Should be a very entertaining game. If there is one CCHA team I dislike, it has got to be Michigan though. :D

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

The national title is UND's to lose. They are the best team in the tournament, and no other team is remotely close to them based on the performances I've seen so far. Michigan's goalie will have to play the best game of his life to give the funny helmets a chance. Anything less than that, and you get a game like today's with Denver.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

I give Dell a break here. DU found the only way to beat an unbeatable goalie - bounce it off his *** from behind.

Don't get me wrong, Dell played great this weekend (Regional MVP btw), but he was out of position and that allowed the goal to happen. If he can bring the same performance against Michigan that he did this weekend, it will be difficult for Michigan to win. Dell, other than the one goal, was positionally excellent the entire weekend. He may not have the most athleticism or natural talent at the position, but he makes up for that with almost always being in perfect position.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

Was Dell highly recruited? Seems like he's come out of nowhere...

OK - I'll take another look. What I thought I saw was Dell getting his skate tight against the pipe, his knee flat on the ice and his stick down against a pass - all it good time. But the shot appeared to go just over his skate and bounce off his butt into the net. There was no sound at Sensers, so I missed the call.

I could be wrong, but I saw Dell getting his skate to the post just a tad late, and it bounced off his skate and in.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

For those of us who are rival fans and have to work with UND grads, I assure you the next two weeks will feel infinitely longer to us than it does to you. :p

Yea, I feel bad for you. Not only do you have to talk v-e-r-y s-l-o-w-l-y, you now have to listen to them brag.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

This will be a better game than people think if Michigan plays as well as they did last night. The 2-1 score was deceptive, Michigan heavily outshot CC and if it wasn't for bad luck and great play by Howe it easily could've been a 4 or 5 goal win.

Burlon's status will be key, Michigan will need all their depth on defense as I expect ND will use the last change to keep Frattin away from Merrill.

heh

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

Frattin fears no one. Merrill's soul will be in MMFF's possession as soon as the puck drops.
