UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

The way the Sioux are playing lately, it is hard to pick againt them. They are downright dominant.

I think Hak should call Red and tell him that if they concede now nobody gets hurt. Give him until noon tomorrow to decide. A little compassion is a good thing, even in this game.

As a MN fan who hates UND with every ounce of my soul, I have to agree with this. UND is friggin' scary. If they don't win it all this year.......

That being said, for the second time in 3 weeks, I'll be surrounded by UND fans, which itself is pure torture. And now I'll have to hear "Hail" 523,923,608 times. And that's just on Thu.

I know there's a hell, and apparently it's called "St Paul on April 7th."

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

After watching the Michigan/CC game last night, I think UND and Michigan are quite similar with strong defense corp, but I think UND has more fire power from their four lines.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

Wolverines are gonna get crushed.

I wouldn't say crushed although I am rather nervous about this game. It wouldn't shock me to lose by 3 or 4 goals. That being said I have to stick by my school. Burlon should be back which will help, whether it helps enough is the question. We shall see. Comparing common opponents isn't practical but we beat uno 2 out of 3 times this year while you beat them 2 out of 4.

We shall see which teams show up. I look forward to a good game.

Not sure how anyone could come to this conslusion when Michigan just beat two WCHA teams, including CC...a team that played great against UND in St. Paul. Also have to take into consideration that Brandon Burlon could be back (not sure about Wohlberg).

UND is definitely the favorite, but give Michigan some respect.

Well said. Michigan came out of this year's region of death. There's no question they deserve to be there, and will not roll over...

Jeez Brent, relax pal. I've bantered with you before a few years ago. As a Sioux fan, you don't mind if we totally take over your place, do you? NO, we won't as UMD will be there in likely about equal numbers.

So, share the hatred with them. Don't cough when Frattin scores another unreal goal.

As a longtime Sioux fan, this team does register on the scare meter. Don't think the Wolverines are going to run and hide though.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

I watched all of the games this weekend, thought the WCHA teams were stronger skating teams then everyone but Michgan. I think this will be a great matchup with the edge going to UND. CC was over-matched with UM's size last night. UNO maybe next time dont let it get to OT then there is no contorversy. Denver was out of gas, funny how the NCAA made adjustments so 3 CCHA teams weren't in the same regoinal bracket. I think the overall the WCHA teams were ranked by how things went in the WCHA but the strength of the WCHA this year was not accounted for. Very easily could have been 4 WCHA teams in the finals had the regions allowed it.

Michgan plays the same physical style as UND it will come down to goaltending and Special Teams.......who can stay out of the box.

UND vs UMD for the Final. Xcel will be rockin.

Having seen quite a few CC games, the team that showed up Fri was an aberration. That was easily the best game they played all year. Now, having said that, Sat's showing was one of the worst. They are streaky, and I was surprised they made the tourney at all (yes, given the PWR stuff).

And right now, seeing all the games this weekend, UND should win with a 2-3 goal margin. While DU played a mostly crappy game today, when UND started rolling, they turned up their game even more, and showed their true power. And I've seen about a dozen UND games this year, and right now, they are playing their best hockey, and it's rather impressive, to say the least.

I don't know if this is funny...they simply don't want conference opponents playing each other in the first round. I happen to agree that it's unfortunate UND and Denver were in the same regional, but then again, it's not like Denver steamrolled Western Michigan. They pretty much followed bracket integrity as Michigan and Merrimack we're basically tied.

Anyway, yes, UND is the best team I've seen coming down the stretch. I'll be pretty surprised if they don't win the whole thing.

Re: UND Fighting Sioux vs. UM Wolverines

Here's my take, subject to change...

North Dakota is playing extremely well. Dell played very well, minus the one goal he allowed this weekend where he was a little slow getting into position. Our forwards have been outstanding in the first two games. We have had tremendous depth. Ten different players scored our 12 goals. Defensively we have been outstanding, allowing only one goal (which really wasn't the d's fault), and have been 12-12 on the pk, scoring two shorties. I fully expect North Dakota to play very well against Michigan. For Michigan, they came out of the "Region of Death" as many described it, and had to beat two solid WCHA teams. If they win the National Title, it could very well require 4 wins over the WCHA. That being said, UNO and CC aren't on the same level as DU and UND, at least IMO. If I had to bet money on the game, I would pick North Dakota.

That being said, this is the NCAA Tournament. Absolutely ANYTHING can happen in any given game. If Michigan can get an early lead, they will have a great chance at winning. North Dakota has been a front runner for most of the year, and if they get behind, they can get frustrated, especially if they run into a brickwall goalie. I have followed college hockey long enough to get to the point where no result will surprise me. I'll be there, which I'm excited about, but the last time I watched UND at the Frozen Four they were getting lit up like Christmas. I hope for a different result this time. :)
