Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

Just in case anybody's interested - It's really challenging living in Packerland, married to a devoted Packer fan, to watch Brett play against his former team. I had the mother-in-law and my step-son over tonight with my wife watching the game (all lifelong Packer fans). I was rather respectful of their feelings and didn't exhibit too much enthusiasm. But it was very difficult.

They're all sleeping now, so now I can let it out - SKOL VIKINGS!

Punch them in their sleep for me. Thanks.

I watched the game over at a friends place, it was a pretty fun one to watch. Jared Allen is indeed a BEAST! And BrettFarve shows that he definitely can still play with the best of them. It was very nice to see the O-line protect BrettFavre the way they did, if this trend continues he may actually make it through the season.

That was indeed a helluva game, even taking out the bias of MN-GB fans watching it. Close for a half, then a lull, and a close-but-not-quite finish.

you can say Beer Pong Horn's place. It's ok.

I love the fact that on that play where he stood there and danced, there was no one wearing Packer colors within 5 yards of him. He could have built a campfire for christsake.

Superstar and Sludge are schilling for a new stadium at the moment. Apparently, the concourses are too small at the Dome. :D

During that sequence when Favre was lollygagging in the pocket deciding which receiver was worthy of being passed to, John Madden jerked off 13 times, ate a dozen buffalo wings, a turducken, and cured his athlete's foot.

Actually I was a friend from high school's house, there were about 10 people there to watch the game.

Hmm, lost some respect for Woodson coming off comments he's made pre and post-game. I'll leave that at that.

Good win, but the Vikings will need to play better against real contenders coming on the schedule such as Baltimore. When you have that many sacks, cause that many turnovers and have fewer penalties at home, a game should not be that close. Not only that but they better learn to run block against the 3-4 or there will be teams seeing if they can try to learn that system to use against the Vikings to slow down AP. Of course do that and face the wrath of the newly improved passing game. :p

btw - as I was typing this the Shamwow commercial came on. I really would like Jared Allen to sack his stupid ***. :D

Anything in particular? (I'm not letting you leave it at that... I'm cruel that way) The only two quotes I've seen from him so far ( first one reported by Jason Wilde) are pretty harmless:

“If we play anywhere close to the way we played tonight, it won’t just be Minnesota that we have to worry about,” Packers cornerback Charles Woodson said. “This ain’t about Minnesota. They won the game tonight, but we as a team, we’ve got to get better. There’s games before Nov. 1. We’ve got to get back on whatever track we need to get on and get the next game."

And also, this short and very accurate one reported by Kevin Seifert:

“I don’t think we made a bad decision as far as going with Aaron,” Woodson said. “Not at all. I just think [Favre] landed with a better team right now.”

There was one in the paper on Sunday that suggested he wasn't expecting much from Favre, and then post game he again said he wasn't expected much from Favre and two, Favre got what he got more because of poor play from GB than anything else. I don't care that the comments were about Favre, but they came across as spiteful. Perhaps not that big a deal in the end but they did perk me ears a bit.

Moving on from the primetime fun, sunday's game is a MUST win without a question for this team. If we want to be an elite team, we must play at an elite level against every opponent, and this weekend is a perfect time to pummel arguably the NFL's worst team.

I don't think there is any "arguably" about it. St Louis is HORRIBLE. Last year's team looked like a Super Bowl contender compared to this year's team.

Re: (un-) Official Minnesota Vikings 2009-2010 season thread

Cleveland could be argued.

While it WAS the Bungles, Cleveland still almost beat them. StL hasn't almost beat anyone in 14 games. Washington doesn't count. ;)

Seriously, though, last week's 35-0 drubbing at the hands of SF wasn't indicative of the game, stats be dammed. It probably should have been 50+ to nothing. StL is HORRID.
