UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

Over The Boards ‏@OTBPuckWatch
98 D Jake Ryczek (Sioux City) decommitted from UNH today. Talented, mobile defender from Ludlow, MA likely has lot of Hockey East interest.
No surprise, Ryczek is heading to Providence.

Proud to announce my commitment to Providence College to play hockey! Thanks to everyone who's helped me along the way. #GoFriars

Wondering if Smith is the first real ... (I don't want to say failure, because it's not the right word, but something to that effect) ... big name recruit under Coach Bazin that hasn't worked out?

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

UMass picks up another '99 commit, for 2018. We're still the only Hockey East school with no one for 2017, never mind 2018.

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

I would assume Cleary would be coming in. Not sure the age of Metcalf, but Cleary is a 95.

Yes, I should have said in addition to Cleary. Right now it's Boyle and Cleary. Do they bring in Metcalf early or someone else? Metcalf is a 96.

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

Garrett Metcalf was drafted by Anahiem in the 6th round today.

Comments on Metcalf who is at the Anaheim development camp.

Though still extremely raw, you can see the potential Anaheim saw in 2015 sixth round goalie selection Garrett Metcalf. He was the most efficient in his movement of the goalies for much of his two sessions, settling in much better in the second. The one goal allowed in the first session came as a result of having to battle traffic, which will become less of an issue as he adds additional muscle to his 6'3", 175 lbs frame. Keep an eye on how he's handled in his true freshman season at UMass-Lowell.

Re: UML Recruiting Thread, 2014 and beyond

Looks like Evan Campbell scored a goal in the Edmonton Oilers 4v4/3v3 scrimmages. Wonder if the media asked him to compare centering a line against Eichel vs doing the same against McDavid.

whoops, wrong thread

I found it interesting to note that we have four players currently committed for 2016. One committed in 2012, one in 2013, one in 2014 and one in 2015. Don't know why I found that interesting ... maybe it's just because there's been absolutely no recruiting news for months.
