Nice job Monty. One more forward needs to be added, (So.) Tobias Pitka, who was a portal pick up. Wow, that brings the roster up to 32.

Joe McGraw, and the Sioux Falls Stampede are the 2026 USHL Clark Cup Champions.

Hope they can figure something out for the recruits in the pipeline that aren't coming in next season
For anyone that wasn't aware, the proposal to keep some form of deferred enrollment for hockey only has been rejected. Bad news for recruits that aren't coming in this fall.

Some 2006-born recruits may only have two years of eligibility left when they make it to campus, if they aren't coming for 2026-27

There's still a lot that can change, such as a lawsuit, but I would imagine that if things stay like this, our recruiting pipeline is going to drastically change in the near future.

Roster limits from last year are also another factor

Probably means nothing, but Lowell posted up about 9 incoming players this year. I know I expected more, and did ask about it, and they said this is the incoming class for now.

Here's the list I expected, and I've bolded those that Lowell posted are officially coming:
Senior: Anthony Dowd, Cole Moore
Sophomore: Tobias Pitka
Freshmen: Carsen Olsen, Felix Plamondon, Abzal Alibek, Harrison Franssen, Easton Jacobs, Charles Kresl, Joseph McGraw, Kolin Sisson, Misha Volotovskii, Kuzma Voronin, Nicholas Wellenreiter

So that leaves 5 true freshmen that aren't yet official, all of whom are born in 2006.

I believe Abzal Alibek is no longer committed to Lowell. His commitment was removed from the NAHL website and the team he played for earlier in the season. It was also confirmed in the Sun article when he committed that Franssen is doing 1 more season in the OHL. As for Olsen, Jacobs, and Kresl- I'm not sure what the deal is there.

Ah thanks. I must have missed that.

Just to give a little of my two cents/analysis- McGraw, Sisson, and Wellenreiter are all righties (which we needed), and I'm expecting all 3 of them to be in the lineup on opening night. Especially McGraw and Sisson. McGraw's speed is very impressive. In the USHL playoffs he was regularly able to burn D-men wide on rushes and beat his check to open spots in the OZ. Also has a quick release and is strong off the wall on breakouts. Sisson is a natural playmaker with great vision and reads the play quickly. Out of all the ones I've seen play I'm most excited for McGraw. In the Sun article when Norm said he has pro potential I could see what he meant. Not a PPG guy in junior but watching him you can see the details in his game that will translate to higher levels.

Amherst is a top 10 team this year

FWIW, Chris has moved all five of those to 2027. But that might be just because he saw the same things I did? And he does still have Alibek list.

Do we have anyone on next year's roster that would choose the 5-years-after turning 19 eligibility model over the old 4 season model? I know we don't typically bring in super young recruits

Just looking at their ages I believe Sisson will be the only one with 5 years of eligibility if he wants. He turned 19 in late September. Based on some quick math I think the rest will get 4 regardless of which model they choose, other then Volotovskii. If he chose the 5 year model he'd only get 3. Though he's also an 05, I believe McGraw's December birthday saves him an extra season, so he can choose either one.

Thanks! Does this include returning players from last year or just the recruits?

I only estimated it for the 26-27 recruits. Like you said, we've historically brought in older guys, so I wouldn't be surprised if all of our currently enrolled players aren't eligible for a 5th year, but I'd have to do the math for each one.
