UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

And another for Merrimack, that's 6 in the last 3 or so weeks. I need to figure out how to put a tweet in this forum. Bob, how did you do it?

@MikeMcMahonCHN
Merrimack receives a commitment from ‘01 F Casey Severo out of Nobles. NY native.

And yet another for Merrimack.

This is crazy...a 14 year old.

The new legislation is really working it seems to stop younger commits.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

A kid can commit, the school can't honor it.

It's like Kep declaring his undying love for Kate Upton.
I remember when Wahlstrom committed to Maine when he was only 13. His commitment to BC is, I believe, his fourth or fifth change since then.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

Neutral Zone says he's a '19 commit. Chris' site says '20.

NZ has him as a 3.75* recruit.

Some stuff on him from NZ...
Minnesota Class AA Tournament, Top 60: B+ Jack Bayless #29 (F, L, Minnetonka, Jr, 2000)-Jack picked up a couple of assists here for the champs after leading the team in scoring during the year. He was a marked player but found other ways to help his team win. He is not a big forward but worked really hard and showed grit. He played big. Was great on the penalty kill, kept possession and worked the puck below the dots. Played through contact and forced opponents to work in their end. Showed flashes of his scoring touch as he can catch and shoot and one-time the puck. Was at his best when Minnetonka faced adversity in the semi-finals. We thought he showed strong leadership and versatility to help his team win without scoring. It showed his game is maturing and that he can do more than play in the offensive end.

From the Lowell Sun:

He will return to play for his senior season at Minnetonka before playing a year of juniors after that. He’s likely to arrive at UMass Lowell in the fall of 2020

It's nice to see the Hawks getting a commitment from a Minnesota HS player.

One in, one out at Merrimack.

The first one was a MC commit.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

Had been hoping to see some of these guys in the USHL.

That was my first reaction to seeing the news about Armstrong. I thought NZ had him as a 4 star recruit? I know that's not the end all be all, but it made me think he would play at that level.
