UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

Carl Berglund has been quite productive the last few weekends. Maybe he's getting adjusted to the north american game? 2-5-7 in his last 6 games. He's a +18 player so far in the USHL.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

The USHL regular season ended last night. Matt Brown finished tied for 16th in scoring with 57 (30-27-57) points.
The first round of the playoffs (best of 3) begins tomorrow night. Des Moines will play Fargo and Sioux Falls will play Sioux City.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

Neaton up two games

NAHL - Northeast and Johnstown are tied 1 game a piece in their best of 5 game series. Clark Kerner is listed as injured on the game sheet.
AJHL - Brooks is up 2-0 on Spruce Grove. Andranik Armstrong has not played in the series.
CCHL - Ottawa defeated Carleton Place 4-2 today in the first game of their series. Owen Cole had a goal for Ottawa. Jackson Sterrett was held scoreless for Carleton Place.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

Matt Brown not listed in the NHL's final Central Scouting ... he was ranked 199 in the mid-term rankings. Same with Andre Lee, who had been 167.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

A new commit apparently, but haven't seen this elsewhere yet ... he's 16 and will be playing for Carleton Place (CCHL) next season. 5'11", 154 pounds ... from North Bay, Ontario. He played last season for the North Bay Trappers (GNML) with a 17-37-54 in 36 games.

He was just picked in the second round of the OHL draft last week as well.

NZ has him as a 3.5* recruit, and had this to say about the young d-man back in October of 2018.
Ben Brunette #28 (D, L, 5’10”, 160 lbs, Powassan, 2002)-This defenseman was a call up from the midget team and played like a veteran. He plays a physical tough defensive game and has an offensive upside. He moves the puck and jumps into the offensive hole joining the play. He has played two games this year with a point in each game. He was their best defenseman in that game. He will play at the next level. Grade A-

And now I see the tweet that Middle Street just posted. So there's my confirmation!

Ben Meehan did get added at 139.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

A tough night for Aidan Harper and Sioux City as they were defeated by Tri City 6-1 tonight.

https://www.musketeershockey.com/news_article/show/1012591
Twelve players were scratched for Sioux City in favor of some younger affiliates looking to get their first taste of USHL action. It was a learning experience for the young players who found their way into the lineup against a full strength Tri-City team. None saw more action then goaltender Aidan Harper who faced 36 shots and stopped 30 of them.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

I'm not sure if Lowell would have any interest. Jacob had 66 points (22-44-66) in 102 games played with RPI.

Brooks will almost certainly face Prince George as they took a 3-0 series lead last night. They have won 12 straight.

It’s good to see all of these recruits going on deep playoff runs.

Re: UML Recruiting, Building for 2018 and on

Also, I just noticed Brooks is hosting the Jr. A national championship, so they will participate no matter what. I think with Brooks winning the AJHL the eventual BCHL champion has clinched a berth as well.
