UML 2019/2020: Underclassmen Reign

Re: UML 2019/2020: Underclassmen Reign

We'll always wonder how far they might have gone this season. I wasn't convinced they would win this weekend, but Tyler had an exceptional year, and he could have carried them to an NCAA at large bid. I'm disappointed for the team because I'm not sure they will have that opportunity again for awhile.
I guess I'm not as down on this team as you are going forward. It's a young team, if Neaton or someone steps up in net, we should be good.

I'd feel better about it if they had another Matt Brown or Andre Lee coming in next season. I'm hoping Ben Meehan can be an impact offensive player from the blue line, but otherwise I'm not expecting much from the incoming class.

This team needs to take a big step forward offensively. Someone needs to step up and score 30+ points. They get outshot in practically every game and this isn't a recent trend. That's been happening for a few seasons now. They had a chance to make the NCAA tournament this season because HE was stronger and Tyler gave them .930 goaltending. I do think Neaton could be really good, but is .930 a realistic expectation?

Hopefully nobody minds me asking this question, I'm assuming Boblav/Les will some thoughts on this. Whats this venue like
https://lowellsummermusic.org/leonid-and-friends/

Real interested in driving down for Leonid and friends in July

Thanks
Convenient- parking fairly close good sight lines, relaxed atmosphere. I don't think concessions would be an issue because pretty sure you can't have most of them (I think I am right in this)

And in the simulated Hockey East play offs- UML beat BU in 3. Brown scored a wrap around. If it were poetic justice it should have been Lee! The kid tried so many wrap arounds it was a running joke in our section.

The outdoor venue is nice. They do a pretty good job with it. Concessions can be a pain though.

Thanks and right about the concessions :)

Re: UML 2019/2020: Underclassmen Reign

Hockey East announced their All-Rookie team. 3 BC players. No one from Lowell.

Re: UML 2019/2020: Underclassmen Reign

 so all the times he was player of the week on defense they didn't believe themselves?
As much as I hate to say it, the guys that beat him out had better numbers.

In Conference play:
Swayman: 2.27 GAA, 93.4%
Knight: 1.92, 93.1%
Wall: 2.31, 92.8%

Overall:
Swayman: 2.07, 93.9%
Knight: 1:97, 93.1%
Wall: 2.10, 93.1%

Re: UML 2019/2020: Underclassmen Reign

Redshirt Senior Garrett Metcalf, who played for Lowell during the 16/17 season and then transferred to Mercyhurst has put his name into the transfer portal.

Swayman should at least be in the Hobey Hat Trick, if not win it, imo. He also single-handedly won Gendron the HE coach of the year award.

Hockey East Semifinals from the simulated thread

Massachusetts Lowell v. Massachusetts
Lowell and Amherst...a rivalry like no other...renewed itself this evening in the Hockey East Semifinals. John Leonard put the Minutemen up early, pushing his own rebound past Tyler Wall to put UMASS up 1-0. Wall kept Massachusetts off the board the rest of the way in the first period though, despite the Minutemen launching an incredible 16 shots on frame, and after one, UMASS led Lowell 1-0. The RiverHawks responded early in the second when Andre Lee took a loose puck in the near corner, and whistled a wrister on net that deflected off a Massachusetts defender and past Minutemen goalie Matt Murray and into the back of the net to tie the game at 1-1. Murray and Wall then battled in a classic goaltender dual in the second period, with Wall stopping each of UMASS' 9 shots on goal, and Murray fending off Lowell's last six shots of the period, and it was all square at 1-1 through forty minutes. Murray and Wall continued their dual in the third, with each goalie trying to outdo the other. With just over four minutes to play, Lowell's Lee got called for boarding. The officials reviewed the play to see if it would be called a major penalty for checking from behind. After a lengthy review, the minor call stood. Wall stood tall on the penalty kill, and after sixty minutes of action, the game remained tied 1-1. Both sides played cautious early in the extra frame, and it appeared that a second overtime would be necessary. However, with just over three minutes to play in overtime, Seth Barton launched a blast from the near boards that went wide on the near side, but ricocheted off the boards and right onto the stick of Lucas Condotta. Condotta lifted a wrister over the outstretched blocker of Murray and into the net to give the RiverHawks a 2-1 victory, and a spot in the Hockey East final.

#NOTMYFLAGSHIP!! w00t!! On to play Maine! Virtual meet and greet at the Harp with the blue wig on tomorrow! Still- can't they let Lee put in one of those wrap arounds??
