Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

The TV broadcasters sucked for this game.

Listened to WC(R)AP. Reception was exceptionally c(r)appy today, wavered in and out, sounded like the AM reception we got in the 60's in the mountains. The worst part is I have to jack the volume all the way up to hear it. SOmetimes I forget to turn it down when I switch stations. One of these day s I am going to blow my speakers. Have I said before how aggravating it is that we have a rinkydink set up that can't get 5 miles across the river when the old station let me get half way to Boston. Div I my a55. they broke all the stuff that didn't need fixing

where were you listening to the game from?

I can think of at least a handful of ways to stream the game from the internet.

Home, in Dracut. We have DSL which is spotty at best. I shouldn't have to stream to get something that is a few miles down the road. C(R)AP has always been a horrible station for reception. No matter where I lived (Lowell, N Chelmsford, Chelmsford) we always tuned into LLH because C(R)AP was so horrible. Anyone who actually comes from this area knows this. Would like to listen mindlessly not have to work at it

Just feeling cranky. After yrs of feeling apologetic for the way things worked at UML I had begun to feel pride when I said who I was assoc with. Back to feeling apologetic. Recently a friend who donated a game package to a charity auction. Nightmare. Was handed off to someone who obviously had no idea how to handle things- couldn't answer questions, slow response to emails, lack of attention to detail, contradictory answers, etc. She kept coming to me to see if I knew a way to get an answer or to check to see if it was right (I had no idea). She finally straightened things out. THey changed the game time. People who got the pkg missed the game because no one notified them. The staff made it right but the people gave her an earful and I got to hear about it. These are $$people$$ and I am sure everyone has heard of their experience. She was a dam site more persistent than I would have been. The person who used to handle this could have done it in their sleep and made my friend happy. Doubt she will do it again.

This Div I wanna be thing has broken so many things that were working well. Makes me sad. Would be less painful if we never had a taste of how it is supposed to be done. No SID, no real radio, all sorts of $ spent on bureaucratic layers to do stuff that worked seamlessly before. Here's hoping the growing pains resolve themselves but I am back to being a cynic :(

Recap of the 4-2 loss to Maine

http://www.sbncollegehockey.com/201...devin-shore-ben-hutton-blaine-byron-cam-brown

Bazin was upset about not receiving an explanation to the non-icing call that came shortly before the empty-netter. He also said that he's still pleased the team's first half.
I think the only disappointing thing I take out of that loss was how bad the PK looked. That was utterly frustrating.

And man, would Conner like that third goal back.

37 would definitely like that goal back. PK wasn't that bad. The final Maine PP that Byron scored on was atrocious until the soft goal.

The Hawks did a great job up until that point on the PK. The killer was Lowell should have had it out of the zone just before that goal. Tough to come back after giving up a late one. Another disappointing day at the Alfond.

Agree it's frustrating. I was trying to listen in the car on the way home last night and had to jump around to the various stations to find the best reception. One station would fade then another, never mind the static in between. Boy do I miss WUML and FM radio.

Well, I slept through the entire third so that spared some frustration

WUML is still broadcasting most of the games.
Rookie broadcasters though, not Bob Ellis obviously.

26+ yrs of Bob- not switching but getting close to saying who cares and not listening at all. It shouldn't be work to listen to the team.

for those of you that have smart phones, the ESPN app is awesome. You can listen to Bob, and the sound is crisp and clear. I believe it was $3.99 when I purchased the app.

I don't recall paying a dime... but yeah. I mean there are other options.

Les, I think we can agree that if relations with the school are turning to **** because they've had to hire questionable staff that's bad. People like this don't go away and do damage to what we've built. But, you have other ways around the broadcast issue at home.

I tried the tune in radio app, but it would not work for me.
For those not minding to pay the fee, its well worth it and saves aggravation of trying to locate the game via car. Especially when you want to hear Bob after a game at the Tsongas.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

He has a point. The puck missed the post. Not only did it miss the post, it also missed the base of the goal which is actually wider than the two goal posts.

I thought it hit the post but I'm on the other end, the puck changed direction dramatically

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

It hit the side of the post but a few years ago the rule that the puck going through the crease nullified an icing was eliminated. It should have been an icing per the rules.

Thanks for clearing that up, I thought it hit the post. For it not to be icing it would have to hit square and not cross line?
