UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

I thought AIC would put up more of a fight, very few body checks all night. The Hawks skated hard for much of the game which was good to see. Hard to judge just how well the team played since it was so one sided. They certainly will not have that much time and space with the puck on Sunday. It was good to see some scoring from some different players.
Difference between this and a scrimmage against most of the Canadian teams ... this didn't get ugly at the end.

Or Holy Cross.
Touche. First time a BC fan has gotten smacked the past 12-15 years. ;)

To be honest, UML has yet to earn getting some serious smack thrown your way, but I figured I'd honor your team and fan base with a little good natured ribbing. :)

For those who ordered Fenway tickets through Lowell, according to the FrozenFenway Twitter account you should be receiving your tickets within the next week.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

Interesting stat from Joe Meloni in last week's blog, so I'm going to amend it to add the game from Tuesday night. Since Bazin took over, Lowell is 47-1-1 in games they lead going into the third.
That loss came Jan. 13, 2012, in a road game against Vermont. UML led, 2-0, heading into the third before the Catamounts tied it and won in overtime.

Just looking at some numbers for Maine. They're 6-1 at home (only loss to UVM). They've beaten BU (7-0) and BC (5-1) at home, while outscoring all opponents at home 30-12. Their leading scorers are both sophomores, and 7 of their top 10 are underclassmen. Senior Martin Oullette has played every game in net for Maine, with a 6-6-1 record, 92.8% and 2.15 GAA. His stats in league games are much better, 95.6% and 1.32 GAA, both best in the league.

They are 16-0-0 in non-conference games when leading after 2 periods since Norm took over.

Also, when leading after just 1 period, they are 36-2-1 when Norm took over. The Vermont game you mentioned is 1 of the losses, the other one was Game 1 of the Quarterfinals against Providence in 2011.

I saw some of that BC game on tv and Maine looked very good. They were aggessive and were flying around the rink. I would expect more of the same on Sunday. I'm also sure Gendron remembers what worked so well the last time he was behind the bench against Lowell. This one (actually any time they play at Maine) makes me nervous. Two big points on the line before the break.

It's hard to believe but that win against BC was Maine's first sellout in 3 years.

ok, too early for this type of thinking

Thanks Bob! That's Channel 262 on Comcast.

I echo Monty on this info (Thanks Bob). I never would have thought to look for the game on all those SD Sports channels I never watch.

Even though it's only December this is a big game for Lowell. I think Wilson will play.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

All three regular season games against Maine last season were with Carr in net. Maine won the season series 2-1.

Both playoff games were with Hellebuyck in net. Lowell went 2-0.

Just looking at CHN... Is canisus really on the schedule?

I thought about training up for the catamount cup but the logistics don't look right

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season ... The Target is firmly on

When all the games from this weekend are wrapped up, Lowell will have a ridiculous number of games on hand over the rest of Hockey East.

At the conclusion of the Dec. 8 game between Lowell and Maine:

GP(UML Games in hand)
UMA - 11 (5)
UNH - 10 (4)
PC - 9 (3)
BC - 8 (2)
MC - 8 (2)
UVM - 8 (2)
ND - 8 (2)
NU - 8 (2)
BU - 7 (1)
ME - 7 (1)
Lowell - 6

A win at Maine on Sunday would complete an excellent first half of the season for Lowell:

.750 winning percentage
5-1 in conference games
7-1 on the road
11-1 in their last 12

Here's hoping the guys finish the year off strong and rest/heal up during the break.
