Since the back-to-back loses to the Q, Lowell's done pretty well after a loss this season.

Lost to NU, beat Princeton.
Lost to Maine, beat Canisius.
Lost to NU, tied Maine.
Lost to PC, beat PC.
Lost to BC ... ?

That's a pattern that needs to be broken. :D

What's up with 5 flags hanging for 2013? I mean you had a really good year but 5 flags??

In my mind it should be 4. Lose the regional champions one, the frozen four one means the same thing. one more NCAA appearance probably consolidates those 6 to 1.

This. I'm glad sterlippo brought that up. The regional and Frozen 4 banner is embarrassing. All of the NCAA appearances should be consolidated into one. Actually weren't they last season? I'm ok with regular season and tourney champs since they had never won either up until last year. If they win either again they should be combined. As a Boston pro sports fan I laugh at other teams that put up Division champs banners, so I feel the same way about that regional + Frozen 4 one.

Well is was a siesta in the 2nd but the third was a barn burner. Phew.

Did McGrath start wearing some kind of new cologne? The BC guys were draped over him or love tapping him most of the night. Wanted to tell them to get a room or at least hit the drugstore. Jeese!

Great game and atmosphere . Love coming to your place and the Harpoon stand was right behind our section. Kudos for that comeback and nothing I saw changed my opinion. Not a fan of the style but UML is **** good . Actually I'm ok with the FF banner and a HE tourney championship one. Regional and regular season not necessary but I get why you have them . Keep it up like these past few years and there won't be a reason to have 5 for one year .

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

I thought Norm's comment in the post game about scoring one and getting the crowd into it was spot on. The tying goal was the loudest I've ever heard the Tsongas...I think some people would have suffered hearing damage had Lowell got a third one.

In the third, even before Lowell scored, all I could think was "where has THIS team been the last five periods?". The won battles. They won races. The defense was superb at curtailing the BC rush and pushing it the other way. It's a scary sight to watch the Gaudreau line skating into the zone with speed, but I thought the D - especially Folin in the late second and third - did a great job in that regard.

Doug Carr was, in a word, amazing. Can't fault him on either goal. I wouldn't want to be in Bazin's shoes. What do you do this weekend, or in the HE tourney? I think we'll see them split this weekend. Carr on Friday, and Hellebuyck on Saturday. Just my guess.

Vermont's up next. Catamounts have been playing very, very well. I think a split is the most obvious outcome, but I wouldn't be shocked to see either team take 3 points. I would be shocked if either team swept. Lowell has had a good run in the Bazin era up in Burlington, but Vermont has a killer top line and the best freshman in the conference.

Any news on Wilson or Gambardella?

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

Agree with Bazin, I also felt like we walked out of there with a tie that felt like a win.

And, I agree with the comments on the atmosphere. I knew it was going to be special when I got to my seat 20 minuets prior to puck-drop and the stands were already pretty full. Amazing crowd, that was just fantastic. And yes, very much a pro-Lowell crowd. Outside of the top of two sections that had BC fans, they were pretty sparse around the stadium. As Patronick also noted, I was thinking the same thing, mentioning to people before the third "Let's get one. Let's let the guys hear how much backing they have," and once they scored, the place lit up. The crowd was into the game from the beginning but when you haven't scored for five straight periods against a team, nerves start to hit. I really thought we played our best hockey of the season in the third and in OT.

BTW, if this BC team doesn't win the NC, something's wrong in the world. Fast, talented, great d and goalkeeping, some bruisers ... wow, what a team. I'm trying to remember the last time I saw a team bring out their first forward line and one defender for shorthanded situations. No wonder they're so dangerous when they're killing penalties.

Re: UML 2013/2014 Season, II ... May I have another?

With that crowd last night Lowell jumped over UNH in average attendance for the season (5,316 for UML 5,312 UNH). Good for second in Hockey East behind BC.
