UML 2012 Offseason Thread: "If this is a dream, don't wake me!"

Re: UML 2012 Offseason Thread: "If this is a dream, don't wake me!"

Do we have an idea for OOC games next season?

I was wondering the same. The non conference games can make a big difference in the Pairwise ranking for a team.
I hope Lowell's non conference schedule turns out be stronger than it was this year.

I know we're making a visit to Colorado in the fall. I've heard October from one source and Thanksgiving weekend from another source.

I'm in either way... Who wants to do a brewery tour or steal Monty and Gary's itinerary from years ago?

Edit: winning in nonconference matters.... Better to win vs Mankato for 2 than lose two to Minnesota.... Of course RPI gets a boost

Or you can join in our itinerary!

I was told by a reliable source that Lowell would be in Colorado to open the season, the same weekend they were in Mankato this past season.

Have the sources provided enough info to know who is on the schedule? Are we somehow leveraging Norm's relationship with CC to include them on the trip? Would love to see a DU/CC weekend. Or is a pair at Air Force more likely given the early season nature of the trip.

I believe CC is part of it, but not sure.

I was told it was Denver and CC for the 2 games.

I also heard rumors (haven't confirmed yet), that either this season or next we're going to Penn State for a game, and that we're in the Mariucci tournament. Again, those aren't confirmed yet.

Can't they just announce the schedule already? I'm ready for the puck to drop! :D

Also Alex Chiasson has left BU. The Hockey East departures have begun. Here's really hoping Lowell isn't affected, and not having anyone but Wilson drafted helps.

Re: UML 2012 Offseason Thread: "If this is a dream, don't wake me!"

For those that might have missed it, UConn is going to apply for Hockey East.

UConn makes sense. Hope this happens for them but I really think they'll need to keep the rink on-campus to be successful. Having basketball games in Hartford is one thing as the entire state lives and breathes with that team, but hockey will need student support to stay relevant. And the only way students are going to UConn hockey games are if they are against quality opponents (read: Hockey East teams like BU, BC, etc. vs. Atlantic Hockey teams like AIC, Bentley, etc) and also if they can walk to the rink from their dorms.

I saw this over in the early departure thread:

Northeastern defenseman Anthony Bitetto leaves after his sophomore season to sign with the Nashville Predators.

I was mentioning this to someone this past weekend, but wasn't sure if it was rumor or real.

Re: UML 2012 Offseason Thread: "If this is a dream, don't wake me!"

BTW, no big surprise, but just as last year one of the best recruits was in our backyard (Dracut) and is heading to Miami next season, Jack Eichel (Chelmsford) is heading to either BU or BC.

And absolutely devastating for Northeastern (if true).

@jrhockeywriter: BREAKING Just got off the phone with @jgillies32 (Jon Gillies) and he confirms he was released from his NLOI
@HuskyHockeyBlog: Jon Gillies has been released from his NLI and will not be attending NU next season.
