UMD v MN Round 2

Re: UMD v MN Round 2

bulldog fans and their bizarre denial & skewed version of reality...amusing stuff I tell ya.

Be careful you don't roll us all into the same bunch . . . MOST UMD fans would not say such behavior is okay. I fall into that group. I for one, honestly did not see it, but as stated previoulsy I wasn't very tuned in to the play on the ice. I also have no doubt that it happened.

A lot was happening in the moments that everyting occurred! I think on another thread ARM suggested that UMD fans booed as West was helped off the ice. Mostly I heard clapping both times she was helped off . . . however I also noticed some booing the frist time . . .which happened to coincide with a Dog going into the box - which was the action I believed prompted the boos. All of this basically proves why eye-witness accounts are so unreliable - and why over the years I have curtailed most of my criticisms of things that happen during games.

(Sorry ARM if I have you "misquoted" here. I couldn't quickly find the thread. )

Oh BrookyOne ...(bulldog fans and their bizarre denial & skewed version of reality...amusing stuff I tell ya)

It was never said that there wasnt a water bottle on the ice , so denial hmmm no, not on our part, and as for the skewed version of reality....i might say the same to you.........and as for unclassy behavior....i'll say it again.....

If you personally didnt see where it came from then its all just speculation.......

Whether or not a 'Dog was going into the box simultaneously, I couldn't say. With the box right next to the bench, it is a short trip. But the sequence was West got up, most people clapped, and as she made her way off obviously far from okay, some people booed. IMO, that falls under the situation that DC described in the UNH thread -- the injury takes precedence. As you say, more people clapped. I brought it up because the complaints of poor sportsmanship were being made in one direction. I don't think either side exhibited very good sportsmanship in that game.

I would sure hope that the boos that were heard(?) were only directed at the player going in the box and not towards West leaving the ice...that would be uncalled for and actually even the boos for the player going in the box..she obvisouly deserved a penalty for that hit...no question.
It doesnt matter who the player is, you NEVER want to see friend or foe injured......EVER.

I personally didnt here the boos, but obvisouly some did ,and i agree that the injury takes precedence......I understand the rivarly is huge but not to the point that anyone should be happy when anyone is injured.......

That much I'm sure we can all agree on. When any player is hurt and has to helped from the ice, the only appropriate response from the fans on both sides should be polite applause.

I'm sure you would like everyone to believe it's only speculation. There were enough eyewitness accounts given to me to satisfy my inquiring mind. Is this the tree falling in the forest concept? If I didn't see it...it didn't happen? Regardless of what many in attendance did witness? You keep pretending the bottle didn't come off the UMD bench if you like...that's denial. After all, water bottle antics and alternative uses are so out of character for UMD right? Was the former chancellor in attendance?

No pretending here.......didnt see where it came from so Im not gonna make any assumptions.........bottom line......anyways this dumb water bottle topic has taken up enough thread time.....now on to bigger and better topics.;)

Memories, light the corners of my mind.
Misty water-colored memories...

Ah, the flying liquid. The silly, legalistic denials. It seems like only yesterday...

It seems like both these teams get "cheap" when they are losing or about to lose no matter the opponent. Probably because neither team lose very often.
