Re: UMD v MN Round 2
I think unless the wheels come off
The dogs are locked to hose a regional game now.
I hope that proves to be omniscient.
Curious why Lura started too,
I thought it was the right move, and I didn't think she ranked near the top of the Gophers' list of problems last night. At least now they are better positioned to play the goalie that they feel is performing better in games, forget who had a stronger practice or who had the stats last season.
As for Saturday's game, very disappointed with Minn play late in the game.
I thought they lost some poise earlier in the game. Yes, it had been a frustrating series, but the Gophs have to keep their eye on the prize.
Unless someone has PROOF Miller threw the
Bottle, you aren't getting a call, Minn fans.
It's a bench minor; it doesn't matter if it was Miller, an assistant, or a 4th line wing. With orangle fluid decorating the ice from the Bulldog bench to the far side of the ice, only the O.J. jury would need more proof than that. Or maybe the Chancellor was just having a water bottle malfunction.
I didn't hear any announcement to the crowd of "please don't throw objects onto the ice", so I doubt anyone in attendance thinks it came from any other source. At least throw plain old water so it doesn't screw up the ice.
That is awful sportsmanship.
Note how the two coaches reacted in the third period last night. One calls time out to try settle things down. The other chucks a bottle. It's not the first time that I've seen it from her; it won't be the last. There are reasons why she has few coach of the year awards compared to her team's titles. Sportsmanship, or lack thereof, is a big reason why. In the future when I see Coach Miller, I'll remember a long swath of orange fluid on the DECC ice. The average 6-year-old displays more self-control.
I still think Minn is the team to beat, they have far more talent than any team I personally have seen this year. It is their year to lose it, because it will be between UMD and Wisco next season.
As we saw this weekend, Minnesota's offense can go into the deep freeze at any time. Just one of the problems that they'll have to try to overcome in games starting Friday. As for next year, Bulldogs/Badgers will get all of the attention. The Gophers will have a ton of talent, but much of it will need to be proven at the D-I level. They'll be a little like UMD was in the fall of 2007 -- great goaltending, dynamic newcomers, some stars already in place. Who knows how things could line up by March of 2011.
