UMass Lowell Off-Season 2017: Next verse, same as the first

Jeff Cox‏ @JeffCoxSports

Another UMass Lowell player who could leave early is d-man Tyler Mueller. Very underrated. Tough to play against. Closes quickly.

Well, I suppose the good thing is we are developing these players...
Where's that "help!" Smilie when you need it

Gotta admit Mueller did look excellent this weekend. Actually carrying the puck into the zone as opposed to just dumping in, doesn't get beat often. That said, definitely did not expect it.

This is a good thing for the program, right? Maybe not great for us next season, but in the grand scheme of things good thing? Right? (I'm going to keep telling myself that either way)

Re: UMass Lowell Off-Season 2017: Next verse, same as the first

The Penrose finalists are just the conference coaches of the year plus the frozen four coaches; there's no nominating process or anything. This isn't really news per se.
Ah, didn't know that. Thanks.

I really hope this isn't true, I've been envisioning Mueller wearing the C on the sweater next year.

As much as I'd hate seeing Smith and Mueller go, this is very good for the program and should continue to make recruiting easier. Potentially opens up space and playing time for incoming prospects Evingson and Sterett??

CJ Smith is expected to be in the lineup for the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday.

I was rooting for UML, didn't realize how much until now because it bothers me today that they are not playing a week from tomorrow.

It would also open up some scholarship money. The Hawks could possibly go after a late recruit or a player that has decommitted from another program.

Re: UMass Lowell Off-Season 2017: Next verse, same as the first

Is this uncharted waters for the UML program? Having this many players at one time transition from the end of the college season directly to the NHL?

Certainly speaks to the overall strength of the program...the new BU? ;)

I don't ever remember this kind of transition.

I'm bad with dates, but didn't Wilson, Folin, and Hellebuyck all leave at the same time? Or did Wilson leave after the Frozen Four with Ruhwedel?
