UMass Lowell Off-Season 2017: Next verse, same as the first

Re: UMass Lowell Off-Season 2017: Next verse, same as the first

I'm surprised they are ranked that high given the players they have lost. The USA today poll has them at #9 which is closer to what I was thinking.

2nd place in the HE coaches poll. They got 5 of the 11 1st place votes, nobody else had more than 2.

Has to be the weirdest voting in recent preseason polling right? 5 teams getting first place votes...

This is great news. Been in the works for a while so nice to see.
One of the top Coaches in College Hockey, good deal for UML keeping Bazin in the fold. One question here is how long will Cam Ellsworth stay? Figure him to be one of the top upcoming assistants around and I would think in the next year or two that some Div.1 Hockey Program will reach out for him.

Re: UMass Lowell Off-Season 2017: Next verse, same as the first

Would kinda suck to finish #5 and get a bye but no home playoff series eh? As a fan I'd probably rather my team come in 6th.

Depends who finishes 4th vs 3rd. Also if 6th means hosting UConn the first weekend I'll take 5th.

UNH will be serving beer this season.

Well isn't this interesting, beer at the 'Whitt: (this is a from an email STH's received)

Also, we are excited to inform you that we are launching a pilot program where beer will be sold at the Whittemore Center at home mens hockey games for the 2017-18 season starting on Sunday, October 1at the 4:00pm exhibition game. There will be two points of sale on the north end of the arena, open to all fans in the general public 21-and-over with valid identification, featuring domestic and craft beer. Cash and credit will be accepted and drink orders will be limited to one per patron, per transaction. S ales begin when gates open, and beer service ends when third period begins.

From the UML site. Andy Merritt? Is he taking over for Jim Connelly this season?

Commercial Radio:
River Hawk Network: (WCAP 980AM)/UMass Lowell Game Day App
Talent: Bob Ellis (Play by Play); Andy Merritt (Analyst)

Time for a new thread?

2013 Regional Champion banner is down.

Finally it looks like they'll be consolidating some of the banners. The DII ones have been moved to the opposite end of the arena and it looks like DI will continue to have individual banners for NCAA tournament appearances while retaining the Frozen Four banner. There will be one banner each for Hockey East regular season and tournament championships. Was hoping they'd do something like this.
