UMass Lowell @ New Hampshire, 12/4

Re: UMass Lowell @ New Hampshire, 12/4

I simply listed how UML has done after being swept the last 3 times. I don't see where I said UNH is going to kick their a**. I do think it will be a close 1 goal game, and if anyone wins big it will likely be UML as they seem to have more talent this year, but I think a close game is likely.

So I guess what your saying is that Lowell is going to kick UNH's ***????

Re: UMass Lowell @ New Hampshire, 12/4

If you're going to separate the UNH sweep from the Duluth/Union sweep (like you did in your original post), then yes, Lowell did not play well after the UNH sweep, but did very well after the Duluth/Union and NU sweeps.

7-3-2 (Cause the PC game came after the Duluth/Union fiasco) can be classified by reasonable people as rebounding nicely. Fact.
The original comment was stating that Lowell usually rebounds well after being swept during a weekend. The facts are :

Got swept by UNH-UML rebounds by getting swept again the following weekend. Rebound nicely? NO

Swept by Union and Duluth, Have one game the following weekend and lose to a bad PC club. Rebound nicely? NO

Swept by Maine- Lowell sweeps the following weekend. Rebound nicely? YES

The premise was that Lowell comes back strong the next weekend after getting swept. You can't lump weekends together and say it was just one big sweep. Bottom line is they got swept 3 times, twice they did not fare well the following weekend once they recovered very nicely....1 for 3 is not usually.
I'm not attaking Lowell, just saying they don't recover as well as Goon thinks they have. As far as this weekend ? I'm sure Lowell will step it up as they are too good not to. Anyway enjoy the game.

Re: UMass Lowell @ New Hampshire, 12/4

So um ... wow.

Anyway, to UNH fans ... since I've only seen your team once, what's the difference that's got this team getting much better results the past 2/3 weeks?

Re: UMass Lowell @ New Hampshire, 12/4

What's the injury situation like for UNH? Will Nick Krates be back for the game? For Lowell, I believe Barry Goers will miss the game, although he is back at practice. Barry's been out since the NU game back in late October.

Krates will miss the rest of the first half with a high ankle sprain. Dalton Speelman(elbow) and Greg Burke(shoulder) are practicing this week, but their statuses for Friday are still unknown.

Only thing I know to be a constant with these two teams are that A> Lowell is in unknown territory since they have to find players that arn't NHL draft picks, but who suprise people. And for once in a long time have a team that can compete with anyone, and B> UNH every year has this team loaded with supposed markee players (and some are). But for some reason they **** the bed EVERY YEAR come NCAA time???????? Why I dont know but everything else is moot

It would be awesome if this became more than a once in a while thing, but you're right with your comment.

This year's UNH team has a third round pick who most would agree has been a disappointment throughout his team at UNH in Phil Desimone. Brian Foster was a 5th round pick and has been an average goalie this year. Leblanc, Burke and Kessel were 6th and 7th rounders. I wouldn't classify this year's team as "loaded with markee players."

Re: UMass Lowell @ New Hampshire, 12/4

The major difference, as far as I can tell, between UNH now and UNH a few weeks ago, has been the much-improved play of our defensemen. It was easily our biggest question mark coming into the season, and through much of October and into November, it was an issue, as we allowed the second-most goals in D-1, heading into the UMass-Amherst weekend. Between then and now, most of the D-men have really picked up their play...most notably Damon Kipp. Oddly enough, it was at the UML game that I noticed his play starting to pick up, and it's taken a month, but the kid's proven himself useful.

With more ice-time, these guys have gotten used to playing defense at a college level, and now they're comfortable enough out there to start playing less tentatively and assert themselves more. They're making smart plays, helping out Foster more, and keeping the puck to the perimeter.

That's just my theory as to what has led this turnaround. Others have seen more of the team in person than I have this past month, but from what I've seen, it's the defense that's really a big difference.

They were last year, though, with JVR, and, um...actually, I think he was the only "markee" player. UNH sure did "**** the bed" in the NCAA's though, so he's got that right. I mean, upsetting NoDak, then taking overall #1 BU to the final minute...just terrible.

Re: UMass Lowell @ New Hampshire, 12/4

I have a good feeling about Lowell tonight plus I think Umile is the Anti-Christ :p

Speaking of JVR, good to read that Mike Sislo got a goal tonight without JVR feeding him passes. Appears from the box score that I missed a good game tonight.

Re: UMass Lowell @ New Hampshire, 12/4

That is way over my head. What does Biz Markie have to do with tonights game?

Well, apparently Carter Hutton was trying to get together with this girl from UNH. He met her after the game at the Tsongas, asked her how she liked the game, she said she was very amused. However, when Hutton asked if she had a man, she tried to pretend. She said "No I don't, I only have a friend." Today he came up to visit this young girl who was so exquisite.

He went to the gate to ask where was her dorm, and the guy had Hutton fill out a visitor's form. So he went to her room and opened the door. Oh Snap! Guess what he saw...another guy kissin his girl in the mouth. After he saw that his heart (And according to the final score, his play) went down south.

So learn the lesson from what's been said...don't ever trust a girl who says she just has a friend.
