UMass Lowell 2021-2022: Which way are we going?

I wasn't focusing 100% on the game and dipped off probably once for 5 minutes... sleep is really screwed up for me. That first goal I don't want to blame him for per se as the entire play was started based on a mistake going towards the ASU end and the play got turned around. Hard to tell on the second goal from the camera we got but it was the 5 min major.

The Meehan 5 min major... was there legitimacy to this? Contact to the head maybe? I know it didn't look like much to me if anything and I know Bob had a similar opinion but he's given over to his better angels to assume he missed something... I dunno, might have been a good time to return to firebrand bob.

I will say that Savory felt like the net was his home where he takes off his shoes and watches television and invites people over for dinner. What I'm saying is he looked very comfortable.

edit: the first night I'll accept the 5 min major for grabbing a guy like Lee did... I tend to want to see those things called more... maybe not as a 5, that part surprised me but I don't know that it was a wrong call to make it a major so conditionally i'm fine with it.

Are there "points of emphasis" we should be aware of for this season?

From what I've ready Hands to the Face (after whistle scrap) is going to be called a lot more this year

It was always on the books per say, just lightly enforced in years past

Games with LIU are cancelled until a later date because of COVID protocols with LIU.

A tough way to start the season, 3 weeks between games. Hopefully the team will be ready to go next weekend against Michigan State. The Spartans come to Lowell with a 3-1 record after sweeping Miami this weekend.

Scrimmage was fun last night. Looks like Berglund is back and will hopefully be ready to go this weekend. Side note I'm not sure if it was due to lack of crowd or what but the goal horn was much louder than it was last season

That’s great news about Berglund.

My daughter just sent this to me. She is getting pumped up to go. Hopefully we will see a lot of students at the games this weekend.

Will finally get to see my first live game since February of 2020. I'll be missing Saturday's game though, heading to Orlando for the Revs match. If anyone's interested in two tickets, let me know.

Lowell 2, MSU 2, Stupid Penalties 2... Lowell is the better team but damn the penalty box cost them a point. Jesus guys. Stay out of the box.

edit: How old did Jim Connelly get... isn't he only mid-40s? He looks like he's 70.

Agreed. Seemed like their was a lot of confusion as some fans were leaving and others staying.

Overall UML played better than MSU for about 55 minutes of game time. Arguably quite a few missed calls too. Notably the hit from behind on the UML player right before we got called for the slash in OT. Not surprised that wasn't called though as in my opinion the refs missed a call when UML hit the MSU player from behind right before our goal. MSU goalie stood on his head and a big reason why this ended in a tie and not 5-2 in regulation.

Was great to see the crowd pumped up like that again though. Been a long while since tsongas was jumping like that.
