UMass Lowell 2021-2022: Which way are we going?

two wins... good... tough part, if you want me comfortable about the NCAAs going into the conference playoffs I think we need to finish 7-0. 6-1 leaves us 11th and another loss would put us into perilous territory. Beer sounds good right about now.

Agree with 7-0 finish. Probably needs some help getting in a regional. Big fans of Colorado College and Wisconsin this weekend.

keep in mind 7-0 was the only thing that didn't put us into 11th or worse in the pairwise... the idea in my head is an opening round loss puts us back to 14th and on the knife-edge. 7-0 put us in 7th.

Big home game tomorrow night against NU. Huskies are in the Beanpot Final on Monday, so maybe that helps us?

From an email from UML:

The game scheduled at Bentley (January 8) has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. The two programs continue to work on a mutually agreeable date for the game at Lowell, while the staff also explores other options for another home game.

A tough one tonight. I thought the Hawks were going to win it with the way they were dominating in the 3rd period. A huge game against UNH on Sunday.

if they could score more often i'd have more faith. they get into the spaces... but they don't score when they get there.

This team stinks. Korencik literally gave the puck away in defense end, followed 2 minutes later with Stefanson doing the same. Just a couple examples. Their playing like their drunk or stoned or something.

Maybe a little harsh considering THEY'RE tied for 1st?

I'm more worried about their 3-5 record the last 8 games than I am where they currently are in the HE standings. On a points per game basis, Lowell is currently 4th. Just 4 league games (and one non-conference) left. Can they get out of this slump?

They don't appear to be peaking at the right time unlike teams like BU, UConn and even MC. I don't know what to think after watching yesterday game. I made my first road trip in over a year only to see the Hawks get totally out played. UNH had more urgency was more aggressive and physical. The Wildcats obviously had something to prove after getting shut out by UVM on Friday. I expected the same from the Hawks after the tough loss to NU.

I thought Henry Welsch played well but it looked like much of the team took the day off. They continue to make too many mistakes and turnovers especially in the defensive zone. I had to look twice at the faceoff totals, UNH 36 - UML 16. They need to get it going with a tough series with PC coming up.

The slow starts are absolutely killing them. And if you read Bazin’s post game comments over the past few games, he mentions the slow starts often. Why hasn’t this been addressed? Why can’t the coaching staff get these guys up for puck drop? More importantly, why do the guys need to be told to come out of the gates on fire? The PP continues to be an unmitigated disaster.

let’s see what happens this weekend, but this is looking more and more like a second half collapse for the ages.
