Great win. PP was as ugly as I've ever seen it but other than that no complaints.

Have to take care of the tomato cans this week and not look ahead to BC.

Congratulations to the team for the huge win last night. They really brought the intensity and the pucks finally started to go in. Big night for Dylan Zink getting the offense going with the hat trick. Wow...I sure didn't expect the Hawks to be up 5-1 with half the game left.

Hopefully they can use the next two games to get the PP straighten out.

The Sun's game story.

On Zink's hat trick.

He became the first defenseman in program history to net a hat trick since Dave Barozzino during an NCAA Tournament game on March 26, 1996 against Michigan State.

btw, i'd say almost all the rest of the games are must win... ending up in 5th will be disastrous because we already play AIC and UMass... playing UMass again will sink our RPI even if we win those games... IMO. These games don't get "deleted" because the dropping is done on a "one of" delete process... it isn't run with multiple passes or considers multiple games. That's why weak schedules are a problem... if we only had 1 or 2 games that'd be fine... but we have much more than that. We'll have at least 4... I forget who else we've played that's terrible... we could have as many as 6 before the HEA QF.

Bottom line, Norm needs to schedule tougher.

edit: ASUx2... forgot them

AIC game basically decides the Robert Morris comparison. A loss hurts Lowell immensely

Let's ignore that... any loss hurts immensely... we've played ourselves into "that" again... win each game then reassess.

Yes, must just keep winning. They've dug themselves into the same hole as last year with the two UConn losses and the two Merrimack ties killing them this year. The Brown tie in Belfast doesn't help either. Just very frustrating. Hanging on at 13 in PWR is just too close for comfort and again, very similar to last season.

there's no comfortable at this point... I can't say we have to win every freaking game... but to me it has to be at least the next two plus one against Boston College and then the HEA first round if it happens... if it doesn't... I don't know... at least a 2-1 QF series win.

So, yeah... 5-2 to finish the non-NCAA season is minimum... 7-2 if we have to play the first round series.

Plain and simple just do your job and win the rest of the games. UML needs to play every game like they did this past Saturday! Just do your job!!!!!!!

Anyone else schlepping out to Springfield on Tuesday?

I am planning to. I've been warned that the arena is VERY cold (we'll see how it compares to Dartmouth and Princeton). They do not do consignment tickets for other schools or sell tickets in advance. It's show up, pay $5, walk in.

I was wondering what the ticket situation was. Thanks!

Sounds like a highly sophisticated operation. Sort of like going to a high school game at a MDC rink.

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

Great rebound effort and win on Saturday night. This team continues to display good character and resolve. Without having to re-state what already has been posted and discussed at length, finally we saw a game plan and execution of that game plan that is consistent with this team's identity, make-up and talent. Just think what our record could be if we had a couple more periods of this type of play throughout the year.

I still was not a big fan of the third period and I don't think giving up 31 shots in the 2nd and 3rd periods is something that we want to continue. However the team managed the game well and didn't really give BU much after going up 5-1. Overall, some very positive points coming out of Sat game. All facets of the game were better with the exception of power play. Really need to get this on track and review personnel on both units. Look very disjointed and really hard to tell what set-up and structure they are trying to use now. Looking back on weekend, there is still opportunities for some of the top players to get more involved offensively especially against the stronger opponents. I think we didn't see BU at their best on Sat night and looking back on their schedule, coming off Beanpot etc, they certainly look tired and didn;t play with the pace we saw Friday night. Credit a lot of this to Lowell's play though.

This week, good teams win the games they should and we need to take care of business against AIC and UMass. The focus needs to be consistency in their game, engraining the style of play and good habits we saw Sat night and getting the power play sorted out. These will be the building blocks to what should be a tremendous series against BC. We have now beaten ND, Providence and BU so there should be a level of confidence that we can compete. BC will present a whole new set of challenges that we haven't faced this year. Much bigger, quicker , more offensive punch and depth than BU or any of the other teams in HE. Can't look too far ahead but should be a great way to end league play.
