Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

Boyle is giving them good goaltending right now, it'd be a shame to waste the effort. Boyle is currently 7th in the country with a .949 SV%, but that's including the four Ivy League goalies ahead of him who have only played 1-2 games to date.

I hope so... RPI, CC, MC... when your opponents have a combined winning % of .321 and are ranked 27th, 31st, 37th, and 59th  in scoring you better have a decent sv%

Let the first stone be cast

I guess its a good thing we're plating a team that just gave up 5 goals against the team ranked 54th in scoring. ;)

Did you check your favorite SOS stat yet? Lowell is 3, Vermont is 52, which on the surface doesn't seem possible, unless Northeastern is that bad?

Somethings screwy with the SOS. So will have to use the test of choice for you Lowell Fans...the eyeball test.

Which tells us your team doesn't like to win at home. Even against inferior teams like Acadia and Northeastern you're guys aren't so comfortable winning.

(Ps. Thank you so much for the free stream)

Well when you play the top teams sometimes you lose even at home. I do realize beating CC at home and RPI is pretty special and is very nearly worthy of a banner, fear not UVM will win at home. Perhaps this weekend against an overconfident team that's used to beating up on the JV squads.

And you are welcome for the free feed... us UVM alumn wouldn't want you guys to miss your players hanging their heads as they skate off the ice.

I have family members who teach in the Vermont public education system and I know they attempt to teach reading comprehension... did you skip class that day in third grade?

You can argue that by playing better teams you get better, but its pretty easy counter with the fact your guys are getting used to not winning at home, and even when they take on the virtual cakewalk that is Northeastern they still can't get motivated to win. Face it your guys are getting used to losing at home, maybe they are starting to enjoy it

I'll sea if I can meat up with Sneddon and have him put CC and RPI slotted for next seeson. Then maybe the guys can learn to win at home. Of course: they will be illed prepared for a reel teem when they due actually step out the ice with they.

I expect those schools would likely turn him down, because even with the bonus for winning on the road, wins against uvm with their poor play and weak SOS would actually hurt their chances at making the ncaa's. Your midget goalie makes it too easy to score

Like in the Hockey East Semifinals last season? Or the Quarterfinals the year before?

Exactly, last year we played powerhouses such as Clarkson and Air Force. The year before Clarkson, Canius, and a newly minted PSU...

Look no further then last year, cupcake schedule had them at 15-5-2 through the first part of the year before BC, BU, UML, led them to a 3-6-2 record on the way out.

Inflated ego's over easy early season wins only serves to hamper the late season run. However it does make it much easier to get an at large bid. Lowell almost needs to win the HE championship to get in or at least rule the HE regular season. CC, RPI, ASU, Robert Morrisand AIC are not much help in terms of an OOC schedule. But they do make the guys feel really special and pad the stats, unless of course you lose.

I also think the overall Hockey East OOC record plays a significant factor in making the NCAA. Last season Lowell had stronger OOC schedule (on paper) and was 14-3-3 through the first part of the year. Lowell struggled in the second half too, but even when they were 11 games above .500 I don't recall them cracking the top 10 in Pairwise.

So far the league appears to be doing better OOC this season. Where the weak schedule will really hurt Lowell is if they fail to win against any of those teams you've listed above. So far they have taken care of business.

BTW, that Clarkson team was ranked #9 heading into the Catamount Cup two years ago. They ended up collapsing during the second half, but those wins probably seemed very good at the time. Just goes to show you never know...

10. BU

Can we not have the UVM/Lowell cat fight on this thread? Feel free to start up a thread for that please.

Lowell at 4th in the poll. I never would have expected that.

Lowell at 4th in the poll. I never would have expected that.

Based upon last weekend's split with UMD, I was anticipating a move from 7 to maybe 6, possibly 5. But never expected 4th. Lowell is getting some serious respect nationally as evidenced by this so let's hope the offensive display from Saturday's game continues and the defense maintains its high level of play at UVM this weekend.

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

We've already missed one chance this season to control the tie-breaker over another HE opponent. Let's not mess this one up as well.
