Well, I figure it's about time that this thread started. Expectations, once again, are pretty high on campus. I think most of acknowledge that the situation in net will dictate how this season plays out.

Anyone want to venture a guess on the final Hockey East (and overall) records for the Hawks for this season?

I'll go with:

Regular Season: 21-9-4
Hockey East: 12-8-2 (3rd Place)
Loss in HE Semi Finals.
NCAA birth this time.

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

I think I see Lowell finishing 2nd. I just don't see BU being a top 2 team with all of the losses they suffered. Same goes with PC. Lowell should make the NCAAs, but they need to take care of business with their OOC schedule.

I see their record looking something like 15-5-2 for 32 points.

Like Monty mentioned, this team will only go as far as Boyle can bring them. I don't see scoring as being a big concern. The defense will probably be a little worse that last year to start, but hopefully bringing back 4 starters should keep them stable until the new guys get their legs.

Is anyone going out to Duluth at the end of the month for the tournament. I would like to go if anyone else is going.

Any thoughts on who will dress tomorrow night? Pretty hard to a get a feel on the freshmen based on Sunday with the whole roster getting ice time. To me it seemed like Dmowski and Townsend played most of the game and looked good.

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

I'm going with 13-6-3 for 28 points in HE play. Overall, 22-7-5.

So should i break down and buy the stream for the season? Or rely on the radio feed. Meant to ask this summer, but is the stream quality worth it?

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

It's ok... I think it's overpriced for what you're getting considering how many schools have transitioned to HD feeds.

It really comes down to how many games you think you will watch. I went for the year package because my local social life has dropped off and I think I'll watch that often.

Much better start this yr.

Man the goalie for the other guys was good.

Yeah, I don't think you can fault him for any of the three goals. It looked like the first two goals were deflections in the crease off of skates. The third goal was a nice overall play by the 'Hawks.

I liked the play of some of the freshmen tonight. I thought Master and Wilson played pretty well. Wilson seemed to be a step behind on a play or two, but overall he did well. Folin played well. He took 2 penalties, though the 2nd one was the result of a horrible giveaway by Dmowski. Speaking of Dmowski, he had the toughest go of it for the freshmen. He had a couple of bad giveaways, but on the plus side, he can flat out fly out there.

For the game, Lowell turned on the cruise control after the 3rd goal was scored, and Boyle wasn't really tested too much. He did leave a couple of rebounds that probably would have hurt Lowell if they were going against a better opponent.

Re: UMass Lowell 2015-2016 Season Thread

I recall last yr thinking we were flat out awful for the first few games so this was nice. Agree with the give aways. Could see them working on maintaining composure afterwards which I took as a positive. I remember listening to one of the guys talk about it being hard to realize there is enough time to do things and trying not to panic and rush things.

Doyle is very vocal this year. Very. Reminds me of listening to Rolie who used to have a running commentary the whole game.

They had a strong showing in the opener last year ending the first period up 3-1 on BC. I think the feeling last year was uncertainty because of the early departures.

I just remember it being an ugly game.

And in other sport news Cross Country ran in New England's at Franklin Park today. The Mens Varsity squad took 1st (Bobby Allen) and 4th (Paul Hogan) and looked pretty good top to bottom. Girls looked pretty good too.
