UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

Tonight's preview from the Michigan side.

But ... wait, what?
Four defensemen and goaltenders Connor Hellebuyck and Doug Carr have departed from last season's team and Bazin has replaced them with a group of older, but inexperienced defensemen led by four year players Zack Kamrass and Jake Suter, with UMass transfer Kevin Boyle in net.

I think one can convey excitement about the first time visit without burying Lowell like a bunch of rubes just happy to be there. The angle should be two ranked teams meeting in the HE/B10 challenge. Titling the article "Heavyweights Come to Town" ignores Lowell's position as a top ten team (and also inflates MSU, who lost to Amherst).

If this was a national writer I could understand it, but this is a writer for the Sun, someone I assume as at least seen a Lowell hockey game over the couple of years.
Seems more like a way to get people to buy tickets that normally wouldn't have been interested.

Nice Lowell goal but I can't believe how weak the goal song just sounded. So effing lame.

Re: UMass Lowell 2014-2015 Season: The March to March

I'm in Jamaica but all the reports I'm hearing say that Lowells defense was absolute garbage tonight. Boyle is what we knew Boyle would be, but there's so excuse for the defense puking all over themselves.

Hopefully Lowell can salvage a weekend split when Sparty comes to town tomorrow night.

What is up with Lowell?

Boyle is a rebound machine and just terrible. Smith did not too look much better when he got in but he came into a tough position.
Who gets the start tomorrow night?

Boyle was terrible at the other Umass...shocked he got any chance in hockey east....this will cost Lowell the season with him between the pipes

Game #4... relax. and I doubt norm is throwing him out there just to keep him happy. If we had a better option then that person would be playing.

Oh I know you guys have no other option but 4 goals has to win you games 98 percent of the time :-)

I agree...if Boyle had made some stops when it counted, the game would have been a lot different in the 3rd.
Lowell's offense is such a surprise so far this season. If they keep scoring 4 goals a game, they will be fine.

oh, I'm not saying I'm happy. I couldn't get NESN at the bar (but somehow they have MSG...) so I didn't get to watch the game. A lot of this season is probably going to look like this because our goaltender is iffy and our defense is suspect. If our offense game goes to crap its going to be difficult.

So it goes.

Things are not going well in Friartown...down 5-0 at North Dakota with Gillies pulled after two...

As a friar supporter, not liking the way this team has played out of the gate!

That was frustrating. Michigan was fast, consistent and aggressive. Lowell had and blew a ton of opportunities. 4 goals is great given the few attempts. The goalie situation is a little scary, even as relieved as I was to finally see Boyle get pulled. This team has talent, Boyle not withstanding. I expect a lot, even with a young team, they should too.

In my opinion, I think Lowell has the talent to be a legit contender in the national title hunt minus that goalie ;-)
