UMass Lowell 17/18 Season Thread: 21 Year Old Freshman Eating BU's Lunch

Re: UMass Lowell 17/18 Season Thread: 21 Year Old Freshman Eating BU's Lunch

Poor david quinn, everything is just stacked against him. Can't even get a fair shake from the refs. Jack taught him well.

Sick reply, tater. Go cry yourself to sleep now.

I couldn't believe hickey only got 2 minutes. That play is usually a guaranteed 5 in college hockey. Considering he wasn't tossed, probably why he got the game suspension.

I don't really recall the Masters one so I can't comment- could have been bad but I wasn't paying attention.

The Hickey one I saw. A bit... confusing. I can't imagine what made them not call a 5. That kind of stuff is usually a no brainer.

Nah. Jack woulda gotten it done. He was much more subtle that Quinn. Quinn just whines. Jackie was eloquent in his whining. :p

The Nick Master hit was in the corner near the end of the 1st period. The hit was high and I believe made some contact to the head.

OK, I remember that one. It wasn't nice

and down hill from there. From radio feed Wall was not really at fault. Not as bad as the loss to UMO many moons ago but close. Ugh

I watched the first period... the third one maybe he’d like back with a better reaction... if he were “on his game”... but the defense has seriously lost its discipline

The whole team lacks the crispness we have come to expect. It’s hard to watch

I didn't see the game so I can only imagine how bad it was. It seems like Wall can't catch a break this season. A tough way to go into the break. According to box score defenseman Avni Berisha played forward tonight? Is the forward depth that thin? Where's Burchett, Winkler and Paskus?

Norm's post game interview.

I was there last night the D gave Wall no support. The first goal in particular it looked like our team was moving at half speed while BU was moving at full speed. The contintued saga of Bad Lowell hockey came out again last night passes to no one, no puck support, losing battles in the corner. There was no postives from last night just a list of crap we need to work on for the 2nd half.

After the 6th goal I almost lit up a cigarette so they would kick me out

That says a lot about those three if they are healthy scratches. Hopefully Chris Schutz can play, he's certainly old enough to contribute right away. My gut tells me Zohovs isn't joining the team for the 2nd half.

The first two he had no shot at, UML's entire defensive corps might as well have been on Mars. That said, he looked terrible all night - why did Norm start him? Coming off a bye week and with no game for three weeks, he's clearly not resting Hernberg, who was absolutely phenomenal on Friday night. I don't know that UML would've won with Hernberg in, but there's no way that game gets as out of hand as it did. Very puzzling move by Norm.

I wish I had an answer for you. I was blown away when I saw Wall skate to the net. 2 points on the line Hernberg bailed us out a few times on Friday night. Just made no sense to me I figured Norm would have waited to the Catmount Cup St. Lawerence game to give him the nod.

I also heard a "rumor" last night of some discontent amonst the team with Tyler Muller being named captain this year. This person stated that a lot of team wanted Jake Kamrass to get the C.

On the NESN broadcast they mention how well Wall had been practicing and that Norm felt he had two solid options in net. I imagine Norm was rewarding him with a start. For whatever reason the team just hasn't given him the support in some of his starts. Looking at some of the goals he has given up it looks like teams are going high glove side on him. Granted these are nice shots but maybe he's going down too early or too deep in the crease? It's hard to believe after the big win Friday night they pull an embarrassing no show last night.

Interesting comment by Norm about needing to get away from each other. The regular season is officially half over (9-8-0) and it's up to the team to determine how they want the second half to go.

Merrimack and UNH at 4:00 pm on ESPN3.
