Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

My wife and I currently have two season tickets in Section 106. We are bringing 5 friends (Unfortunately some are PC fans) so we traded in our seats. The closest we could get to center ice was Section 117 and that was splitting 7 seats over 2 rows. Hopefully, the place is rocking tonight. Should be a great game. Go Lowell! #codeblue

Ill be picking up 3 tickets with the $3 voucher after I get out of school. Hopefully we show good fight and pick up the W on national TV. Dont forget, where your blue!

Tunnel Vision.

The last time these teams met, Providence eliminated the River Hawks from the Hockey East tournament winning the deciding third game of the opening round series, 1-0, with a smothering, physical defensive style of hockey.

“We've added some substantial size on the back end,” says Bazin, “and that should pay dividends against a bigger team.”

BTW, if you didn't see Bobby Robins' fight the other day at the Garden... :D

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

So many opportunities... Thank god 2 of them found a way home. That fracking goaltender...

That kid is a freak. He is 6 foot 5 but can move like he is 5 foot 9.

Can't believe Lowell put up 50 shots tonight. If they counted all the shots that missed the net the total would have been close to 70. Great crowd tonight considering it was a Thursday with the students on break.

My favorite home game of the year so far.

On to Agganis.

Great crowd and a great game. Goes to show you that a low scoring game can be amazing. Those first two periods where it was 0-0 was great hockey. Gillies is unbelievable for PC. He had a 40 save shutout last game against UMass. Unbelievable. Just shows you how good he is when he gets first star as an away player for the losing team. McGrath had an amazing game. He never stops, must sleep like a baby after every game. Great win and onto BU! Lets make it 9 straight!

Nice to meet you last night even if you brought along the enemy :p

That goalie looked like he wasn't going to stop a beach ball in the very beginning and then made some scary saves! If you needed to make a highlight reel for PC you could do it just on him. Unlikely save after unlikely save. He would look like he was a bit out of position and then make the save anyway.

Fantastic game to be at. And a huge win, on national TV, in front of a huge crowd ... great night overall for UMass Lowell.

Once some of the highly ranked recruits come in, and IF Gillies sticks around, that PC team is going to be scary good.

About Lowell ... loved McGrath's play. And let's give some credit to our goalie as well, Hellebuyck made some very good saves as well. He had no chance on the PC goal, and you could see that goal coming from a mile away as the players on the ice were absolutely clueless on that shift.

But for most of the game, I loved the tenacity, the passing was very good and against a more human goalie, this could have easily been 5-1.

Gillies is THE difference maker between these teams, in that with him in net, the difference is zero.

P.S. -- The crowd didn't look large on TV. Maybe the camera-facing side had fewer people in the seats?

We were actually noticing that, it appeared the tickets on my side (under the cameras) were being sold first for whatever reason.

It looked like a solid student turnout despite it being break (yes?). I didn't have audio... I'd love to know what they were saying

Awesome game, playoff intensity almost the whole time, so true you could see the Providence goal coming a mile away as the whole squad stopped skating and became spectators.

McGrath is my favorite player this season, the guy goes pedal to the metal all the time and he gives big defenders fits with his "squirminess".

Attendance was 5694 and I'd say at least half of them were in sections 102-107. Plenty of students they are back no? I was in 104 and it was packed. Longest beer lines I've ever been in for a UML game. Unfortunately for TV impressions the cameras were all set up behind 106 pointed at the under-the-glass rows on the opposite side of the arena which were the least populated areas.

Biggest difference I noticed between this game and the quarterfinals last year against PC was that we skated the puck out of our zone and waited to be challenged before passing. We must have had 100 unforced passes intercepted between our own blue line and the red line last March, drove me nuts.

When did Chapie become a starter? Never noticed him before but he looked good last night.

9 in a row would be SICK!!!!!!
