Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

Well I'll admit, I never thought going into the Maine weekend that it would be #9 in Hockey East vs #10. Wow.

Big series for Lowell. Not going to say it is 2 must win games this early, but yeah, they need to win them both. Already gave up a point to UVM and Lowell should have come away with at least a point from the Friday game against BC. Can't keep giving away points.

Hi all. Assuming my doctor gives me a clean bill of health (sprained wrist) I'll be in your fair city Thursday thru Sunday. Any good restaurants/sports bars that you recommend? I see the Four Seasons and Ricardo's are within walking distance of my hotel, as are Majors Pub and Mickey's Irish Pub. Anything to do on Friday and Saturday while I'm waiting for the <strike>massacre</strike> games?

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread

Come on down to Lowell Beerworks before the game, of course!

Also, just noticed on the Hockey East schedule that our game at Harvard on December 10 will be on NBCSN. That makes it a bit more appealing than trying to get into Boston on a Monday afternoon. But in true Lowell Disrespect Fashion™, it's only listed on the UML schedule page, not the TV composite schedule or NBCSN schedule. It's probably a mistake and will promptly be removed.

Beerworks is probably the best place- you are in spitting distance of the Tsongas Tcenter.

Beerworks is definitely a good choice. There's a couple of good restaurants in the area.

Go to Harvard ... c'mon!

Ricardo's is pretty good but not a place you want to rush through your food to get to the game.

I'm with the others on this one, make the trip to Beerworks if you are looking for a pregame place.

As for stuff to do, if you are a history fan, I would recommend checking out the Boott Cotton Mills Museum if you have not been there yet. Good history on Lowell and the working mills. The American Textile Museum is also a good stop. They updated it within the last couple of years and is very interactive now.

If your not into history, there are plenty of bars which will have college football on.

Have already purchased discount gift certificates for the Beerworks. :)

The factory museum sounds interesting. In college we had an assignment to write a letter as though we were a person living in the 1880's and address the issues of the day as if we were that person. I fabricated the life of a mill worker in Lowell so this is right up my alley. Thanks!

The doctor gave me a clean bill of health, so I'll be getting into town Thursday night.

Stop by the bar around 5:30 on Friday night or so ... would love to say hi. You'll get a chance to meet a few of us Lowell fans that post here. I'll be wearing the red Lowell sweater (1 point at home so far with me wearing the replicas the school sent out, so I'm done with that!).

Hell, ask the bartender for me ... they'll point me out. ;)

I will. Getting to Alewife is not too hard in the afternoon, going against the traffic for the most part.

FYI, Bright is not on the Cambridge side. It's on the Boston side and about a 10-15 minute walk from the Harvard station.

For those taking the MBTA, there are two key bus routes one can take to Bright.

The #66 bus leaves Harvard every 10-20 minutes. It also intersects the B, C, and D lines at various points.
The #86 bus can be also be picked up at Harvard/Bright. The bus route terminates at Sullivan Square on the Orange Line on the north side and Cleveland Circle/Reservoir on the south.
