Interesting look at the Frozen Four.

I've been very clear on my thoughts on 21 year old freshmen (yeah yeah), but I found the stat that QU has as many seniors as all the other schools combined interesting ... especially when you juxtapose that with the fact that they have the youngest team (age-wise) on average.

Ben Syer deserves a lot of credit for that senior class - nice group...a little bit of everything.

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread III

That is really really cool...

Yes it is. You and I have talked about the changes that have happened since Marty took over (new dorms, academic buildings, building pride for UML and The City of Lowell) but the hiring of Norm has taken us to the next level.

Win or lose next week; the ride has been sensational.

Sorry you missed ManchVegas but I know you will represent UML in Pittsburgh next week.

I have confidence in this group mostly because they amount of time they allow a player to have the puck in our defensive zone.

I am one of the most skittish sports fan... I know the odds... I have a fair handle on the dynamics and how haphazard they are. They can do this... I almost want to say they have this but I know better. All to play for,

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread III

I will ... and I'll rep everyone that can't make it, to the best of my abilities.

I think we'll be surprised how many Lowell fans will be finding their way there. Any word on if the band will be there? Other team sites indicate theirs will be there so hopefully ours will be too. And it appears 600 tickets where allocated to Lowell for sale, team, etc...do we know if everything's been sold yet?

I have total faith in this team. Riley Wetmore is an unbelievable Captain. He not only loves his team and the University; he loves Lowell. Norm is the same way.

I don't know your background but I know you spent 4 years at Lowell. I'm going to live in the moment and embrace the love from my friends who have called or texted me over the last few weeks giving Lowell love.

For all the things they are doing, I would be really ticked if the band didn't make it

Re: UMass Lowell '12/'13 Season Thread III

I'd be shocked if the band isn't there. The last thing I said to the band director as I left last Saturday night was 'have a great time in Pittsburgh". The response was "thanks, we will!'

All of this, plus the results of the past two seasons leaves me giddy regarding the future of the program. Regardless of the outcome of next weekend (oh who are we kidding, trophy trifecta is coming), the improvements on campus, where it now feels like a real college campus, the support, the venue, the additions to the venue makes me believe that Lowell can really start competing for some of the blue chip prospects. But that's talk for 11 days from now.

SCS is the only team I'm not even remotely familiar with. I think people may think the Yale matchup will be a cake walk or easier than I think it will be. You have to remember that going into the ECAC finals, Yale was in position to finish higher than Lowell in the PWR. They're very strong defensively and I see it taking a McGrath or Pendenza type speed play to create chances.

The Q is another strong team on the backend, but for some reason, I just don't see them as a strong #1 overall seed. It might be for the fact that it's the Q and not one of the usual top seeds.

Should be a good two days of hockey and should end with Riley hoisting another trophy.

I won't make it. I booked a trip to Maine with a bunch of friends for next weekend back in December. I'll be at the bar watching with my UML shirt on though.

Last Saturday this whole strange trip went to another level. I find it weird reading other threads and realizing that we're the favorite to win this last leg. I think Lowell has as good a chance as any to win next weekend.

For those who don't get the Boston Globe, nice article by Kevin Cullen today in the METRO section. (Can you believe the Globe is now even acknowledging outside of the sports pages?) WE ARE ALL RIVERHAWKS!

I'm sure I'm not the only one but it just breaks my heart that I'm not able to get to Pittsburgh next week. If we had the later game I *might* have been able to pull it off. I know some other super-long time fans in the same boat -- it's really upsetting.

On a different note, here's a sign of how far college hockey has come over the last few years. I was in Las Vegas last week and was actually able to find college hockey lines posted in the sports books. (Thank you Riverhawks for helping me recoup my losses from the craps table).

What were the odds? Did you wager on the national championship?

Picked up my tickets from the box office this morning. We're in Section 122. :)

Left town before the lines were set for next weekend (the Sunday games hadn't been completed yet) but UML was favored in both of their regional games. Took the money line on both but apparently didn't win enough to be able to pay off my boss to let me take vacation days next week.
