how do you call crosschecking AND embellishment? Shouldn't it be one or the other?

I guess. But if it's actually a crosscheck, it seems silly to call the embellishment. The point of the embellishment penalty is to discourage people from trying to "fake" penalties by the opposition. If it's really a penalty, you're just an idiot for acting like that.

The embellishment penalty is kind of a "unsportsmanlike conduct" penalty. You can be crosschecked, and also try to make it look worse than it was.
