UMAINE Recruits Part 2: 2016/2017 and what follows

Re: UMAINE Recruits Part 2: 2016/2017 and what follows

Wasn't a list of who makes the team rather a list of who is a lock to be in Orono. In other words, every other player currently on the roster not on the list could be upgraded upon. no chance that someone comes in next year and routinely starts over them because if that was the case they would be looking to go elsewhere. If you are a lock to have a starting position than we can safely assume they are back in Orono.

If we want to talk about who makes the team than take those 11 + 13 newcomers + another 3 or 4 from this year's team. The 3 or 4 come from the pool of Gibson, Perez, Housakos, Hayes, Pappalardo, Becker, Cochrane, Muehlbauer. Of that list Housakos and Muehlbauer would be the more obvious ones to stick around. There a lot of wingers coming in next year so Gibson/Perez/Hayes/Pappalardo could be on the outside looking in or seeking greener pastures elsewhere. Ditto for Becker and Cochrane on the blueline. Will be interesting
I agree it will be interesting. Give us something to talk about next summer :)

Maine commit local to my area is tearing up the high school league down here. Nick Capone from East Haven High School. 16 games 25 goals 33 assists. 6'2" 210 lbs. Doesn't even drive yet. Expected in Orono in 2020, not sure of his plans for the next three years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B34Pdbp9EL4

Michael Peca's son committed today. He is a 2000 forward.

Re: UMAINE Recruits Part 2: 2016/2017 and what follows

Nick Capone was drafted to play in the NCDC for The CT Junior Rangers. The National Collegiate Development Conference, which is the USPHL's tuition-free division that will drop its inaugural puck in September 2017, held its first-ever Futures Draft in Boston, Mass.

Since you are in the local area can you let us know when any of his games are steamed by the local news channel. I see they streamed the East vs. West game but I didn't know about it until after the fact. Regular season wraps up this week, maybe some playoff games streamed?

You can watch some of his games at the following site IF East Haven makes the CIAC Division II semis or finals at Ingalls. They are the #1 seed in D-2. I would also keep an eye out for added playoff games. Monthly pass is $9.95 which gets you all of the CT Divisions tourney semis and finals. http://www.nfhsnetwork.com/explore/upcoming/school/3e5a4c631e You can also get alot of info here, Capone had two goals and three assists in his last game. http://www.gametimect.com/saturdays...s-branford-clinches-sccswc-d-ii-league-title/

Elite Prospects has 15 skaters listed as coming in next year (this list doesn't even include goaltender Swayman, one of a handful of guys who signed NLI's last fall)

http://www.eliteprospects.com/team.php?team=606&year0=2018&status=stats

Heisenberg has 12 coming in 2017. His list includes Jack Quinivan, Junior Bruins, May 96 birthdate, but does not include Michaud or Pieper. Heisenberg has Schmidt-Svestrop, Moran, and Swayman coming in 2018.

I think I recall seeing something about Lucas Michaud, who is the grandson of a UMaine notable, changing his mind and deciding to go elsewhere, but I could be wrong.

If you let youtube play after this it will bring up a few news clips of Capone's team winning games. The kid has lots of potential. I hope he actually makes it to Maine in a few years. Hopefully all of these kids coming in will help get Maine climb out of the cellar.

Ok...minus 4 Seniors, add Doherty/Herner/Peiper, 22 returning roster players...gives you 25 to date without the Seniors and the word is any where's from 10 to 12 recruits are coming in..? Don't see 10-12 recruits coming in without a few players from the returning roster not getting the cut. Maybe 6-8 recruits coming in, and maybe 2-3 returning players cut..? Can't see Maine carrying a roster of no more then 27-28 players.

After defeating traditional powerhouse Breck last night, Ben Meyers and Delano High School are Section 2A champions and advancing to the Minnesota state tournament for the first time in school history. The video below has some game action, not highlights, Meyers is #27. I had the pleasure of checking out some sectional and state tournament games in the past and the environment, as evidenced by this video is amazing.
